The Road to Glory is a historical romance drama directed by Chu Dejian, starring Zhang Linghe and Lin Yun in the lead roles.
The drama tells the story of Xiao Li, the head of Yongzhou’s East Market, who unexpectedly saves Wen Yu, a fallen princess who has traveled south to the state of Chen to seek military support for restoring her kingdom. As they spend time together in their daily lives, the two gradually develop feelings for each other. Xiao Li later helps her eliminate the traitor Pei Song, while he himself rises from a street ruffian to become the King of Wei, ruling half the realm. However, as he climbs to the peak of power, the love that began in humble circumstances grows increasingly complicated.

Synopsis
In the winter of the fourth year of Shaojing, Xiao Li—then the head of Yongzhou’s East Market—unexpectedly rescues Wen Yu, the exiled princess seeking troops from Southern Chen.
