A House leader pointed out that without confirmation from former Undersecretary Adrian Bersamin, all purported communications attributed to him — including any alleged exchanges involving President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. — remain triple and double hearsay.
Bicol Saro Party-list Representative Terry Ridon, chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and co-chairperson of the House Infrastructure Committee, said these so-called communications allegedly between President Marcos and Bersamjn have no probative value, no evidentiary value, whether in court, in impeachment proceedings or congressional inquiries.
Ridon said Bersamin should plainly confirm or deny the authenticity and truth of these alleged communications.
“Unless and until he does so, there is no sound factual basis for investigative bodies or congressional committees to treat these claims as actionable information,” the lawmaker said.
Meanwhile, Ridon said given the gravity of the allegations, it is imperative that public discourse be anchored on verified facts — not on unauthenticated documents and secondhand narratives.
Earlier, ACT Teachers Party-list Representative Antonio Tinio revealed that there are communications between Marcos and Bersamin about the alleged flood control project kickbacks.
Tinio said it was Batangas Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste who has the copy of the conversation.
