Married couples in wrestling are not a new thing, where a common passion for wrestling and entertaining brings two people closer and blossoms into a beautiful relationship. One such couple is Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona, who have been together for 8 long years. The pair is having a blissful relationship, supporting each other in their endeavors and figuring out life one day at a time.
While Cardona is competing in indie circuits, his wife is the showstopper of SmackDown and has been making a huge impact in women’s wrestling. Green’s dedication to the sport is unmatched, as she pulls off amazing high-octane moves that get the fans roaring.
However, achieving such finesse and in-ring toughness is not easy because she sheds light on wrestling with her husband and how she’d die each time they trained together.
Chelsea Green gets candid on training with her husband
In the modern women’s wrestling scene, Chelsea Green is one of the toughest wrestlers, who has been consistently proving Ted DiBiase’s words true. Despite picking up a nose injury against Zelina Vega, fans wish to see her return stronger than ever, while she has other plans for her title run.

The former Women’s US Champion appeared as a guest on the Lightweight Podcast With Joe Vulpis, where the host asked her if they “train” together, immediately making her go, “Uh, never-never!”
She described how she has trained only twice with him, which has once left her crying and the other time seeing death in the eye because he was too intense, and started narrating both incidents. She said,
We trained twice. One time I cried, which I don’t cry. One time I cried. He’s so intense, and he is so painful to work with! One time after the second time of training with him, he ran his comeback on me, and I thought I was going to die. I literally had to roll out of the ring halfway through.
She continued that the training left her hurt, and she could not stop herself from going to social media and tweeting how wrestling with Cardona would end with her being in a full-body cast.

What followed was how the numerous wrestlers would agree to her post, saying “same” as they had similar opinions. Green said,
Then I tweeted, ‘this is how I feel after wrestling Matt,’ and it was a person in a full body cast like-like this. When I tell you the amount of wrestlers that commented, like, ‘yup.’ It was shocking, so Matt learned that day, like, ‘Oh, oh, okay, this is the type of wrestler I am.’ He didn’t know that.
Well, not the first time Matt Cardona was shocked, because during his Zack Ryder days in WWE, John Cena gave him quite a shocker. Though he injures her during training, Chelsea Green loves him and opens up about making time for each other.
Chelsea Green shares how married life is not easy to handle
While wrestling together and not ending up in a full-body cast is hard, time management and the ability to clear some space and make time for each other are harder. The inaugural Women’s US Champion and Ryder have been together for 8 years, and it has been difficult spending time together, especially when both are performing for different wrestling promotion brands.

In a separate interview with Rock 95 Radio, she shared how her problems are different from other married couples, and they are trying to make things work, regardless of how things seem from a third person’s perspective. She said,
It’s very hard, but I also feel like just marriage is hard. We have different problems than two people who work desk jobs have, but at the end of the day, if you want to make something work, you’ll always make it work. A lot of people don’t realize for most of our careers, we were totally separate. I was all over the place on the indies and at TNA, and he was always at WWE. So for the first four years of our relationship, that’s what we were used to.
With their roles now reversed, the couple is still working hard to stay together and make more memories with each other, rather than working alone. Hence, she mentioned how their goal is to end up in WWE together and have an “amazing storyline” that would get the WWE Universe on its feet.
Monday Night RAW can be streamed on Netflix at 8 ET/5 PT.
