‘Vigilantes’ Just Gave Us a Better Villain Than ‘My Hero Academia’ Ever Could

Since the beginning of the series, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes has done everything right, and thus it is bearing the fruit of success in the form of unprecedented fame and recognition. The series has proved itself to be a worthy successor of the My Hero Academia series, and it won’t be a stretch to say that it will surpass the original real soon.

The one aspect that could be the main contributor to My Hero Academia: Vigilantes’ success is the villain introduced within the story. As of now, the main villain of the series is Kuin Hachisuka, who is using her quirk and manipulation powers to spread the Trigger drug within Naruhata.

However, the recent My Hero Academia: Vigilantes episode saw her in the most terrifying setting ever. This has given My Hero Academia fans a confirmation that Kuin, as an antagonistic character, is way better than anything that the original series offered with its villain within the story.

Kuin Hachisuka becomes even more terrifying

Initially, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes offered a very mild tone in terms of the story, which led to fans assuming that it might not be as bleak as the manga had portrayed. However, as the story moved forward, the darkness of the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes narrative came out, and it was truly quite suspenseful and terrifying.

The main character that was at the center of it all was Kuin Hachisuka, a student who, in reality, was a villain. She had the queen bee quirk, which allowed her to take control of a human host and use her huge swarm of bees to do her bidding. It was truly a menacing quirk, and until now, she has used it in the best way possible.

The recent episode of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes saw an even darker side of her character, as it was revealed that she was also controlling one of her friends. And fans also find out that she has been living with her deceased parents all along. While it is not confirmed whether they truly are her parents or not, the fact that she was living with corpses around her speaks for her frightening nature.

Hachisuka is a better villain than any antagonist from My Hero Academia

While there is still a lot to explore about Kuin Hachisuka’s character in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, the first ten episodes have already established her as the darkest villain in history. In fact, it won’t be wrong to say that her development within the narrative is far better than any villains or antagonists that were part of the original My Hero Academia storyline.

The main reason behind it is the limitations put on the original series. When Bones worked on the first My Hero Academia anime, there were quite a few bleak moments from the original story that were trimmed or modified.

This caused disruption among fans about the series’ narrative flow and was thus also accompanied by some criticism.

However, it looks like these limitations have been removed completely by Bones, especially in the case of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. Thus, the true essence of villains like Kuin Hachisuka can be felt within the story. Hopefully, Bones will continue this portrayal of Kuin’s character and display the most menacing side of her in the best way possible.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
