Ukraine claimed responsibility for massive drone attack on multiple Russian airbases in Siberia asserting that 40 Russian bomber aircraft destroyed causing billion in damages.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that operation codenamed “Spider’s Web,” had been meticulously planned for over 18 months.
On Sunday, Ukrainian forces launched a coordinated assault using 117 drones targeting Russian airbases. Videos released post-attack showed plumes of smoke rising from several facilities.
In a press conference Zelenskyy praised the Ukrainian military for executing a “brilliant operation” deep in enemy territory targeting military equipment used against Ukraine. “Russia faced significant losses, and this is entirely justified,” he stated.
While not directly acknowledging the airbase strikes Russia’s Defense Ministry admitted Ukraine attempted attacks across multiple regions claiming most were repelled. However, they confirmed some damage to military aircraft.

Amid escalating hostilities, peace talks set to resume in Istanbul today with delegations from Moscow and Kyiv already in attendance. Analysts remain skeptical about achieving a ceasefire, given the intensified attacks.
