The Outer Worlds 2 has been anticipated by all of us for all the outrageous RPG mechanics it would bring. Obsidian showcased their new and improved flaw system, which is hilarious and unique to the franchise. So, instead of becoming a god with each level upgrade, you’ll remain a defective one at best.
But it’s not all bad, as you can use your grey matter to make the best use out of your imperfections. For instance, there’s a perk that allows you to join the ranks of Jack the Ripper with a space twist. Come on now, don’t be shy. We all have caused mayhem in games to torture NPCs, so why not get rewarded for it?
Being a psycho killer in The Outer World 2 might not be a bad idea

The flawed system of The Outer World 2 is unique as it gives you something new out of your regular perks with the flaw system. Let’s say you’re crouching most of the time to be stealthy, but being in position causes your kneecaps to have gas build up.
Thus, when you stand up straight, your knees make a popping sound. In the game, however, this sound is loud enough to alert anyone in the universe. A bit hilarious, but it’s video games, right? The same is the case if you eat a lot in the game, which in turn causes you to crave more. Gotta curb those snack breaks. But all of these effects do sound negative, but not all of them are the same.
For instance, if you are on the quest to become a bloodthirsty psycho killer, it might benefit you. Yes, it may not be morally correct to prey on innocent NPCs, but the benefits are good. With the ‘Serial Killer’ perk unlocked, NPCs will drop you hearts, which can be used to gain permanent health upgrades. That’s sick, both in good and bad ways.
Imagine you’re a serial killer who just can’t help to control themselves from hurting others. Peak roleplaying, right there! But again, you don’t have to hurt your friends to satisfy your dark thoughts. If they do find out about your true nature, maybe you should deal with that, you know.
In The Outer Worlds 2, if you wish to abuse the ‘Serial Killer’ perk for getting lovely benefits, there’s no one stopping you. If you do end up changing your mind to become a goody two-shoes again, be ready for the withdrawal to hit hard.
The Outer World 2 solves one problem that all major RPG titles have

When you’re hopping into an RPG game, you’re given the freedom to make your own choices and pave your own story. However, most of them use it as a facade, because you’re only experiencing the consequences of your actions.
In The Outer Worlds 2, you become a character who is truly unique. If you have addictions, you face withdrawal symptoms. Also, characters are more relatable if they have flaws. Nobody is perfect; that’s what makes each and every one special in their own ways.
Additionally, instead of seeking to become the lord and saviour, you can take the opposite path. Why not become the harbinger of chaos and spread fear in everyone’s hearts? Maybe instead of being the smartest person, you can be the dumbest person in the entire universe!
RPGs tend to keep you on the positive aspect of every story, but not the negative parts. Of course, there are good and bad endings due to actions. But do you really live through negative actions within RPG games? That’s a rare find, and it’s great that The Outer Worlds 2 is focusing on that.
