HBO’s Harry Potter series has cast its Golden Trio and Snape, along with a slew of other characters. However, it seems that Tom Felton is also returning to reprise his iconic role- but this time, it’s on the stage instead of the silver screen.
Draco Malfoy will be played by Tom Felton in the Broadway run of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, where the actor will be portraying an older version of the role that he played in the Warner Bros. films from 2001 to 2011.
Tom Felton finds it ‘surreal’ to play Draco Malfoy once again

As reported by the BBC, Felton revealed how it felt stepping back into the role of Draco Malfoy, albeit in a very different medium. The story of The Cursed Child takes place right when the epilogue of Harry Potter began, on Platform 9 3/4. The epilogue saw the children of some principal characters being dropped off by their parents, including Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Draco, to begin their time at Hogwarts. Speaking about returning to the role, he said:
It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes – and of course his iconic platinum blond hair – and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world.
Tom Felton is scheduled to play the role of Malfoy for nineteen weeks at the New York Lyric Theatre, where he will appear as the character from the show scheduled for November 11, 2025. The actor revealed this on Instagram in the most hilarious way, where he made a post about his return, where he was getting dressed as an adult Draco Malfoy, turning to the camera to say, ‘Scared, Potter?‘, as a reference to his quote from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The cast of Harry Potter has yet to cast some key characters for the first season

The Harry Potter cast seems to be coming along pretty well, with about nine key characters cast for the show (of which only seven are going to stick around for the rest of the show).
There are a number of characters that are still in the process of being cast, who are going to be integral to the rest of the story. To begin with, there is no word on the actors who would be playing Petunia, Vernon, and Dudley, and the other characters, such as the Weasley Family (save Ron), are also missing as of the writing of this article.
It really remains to be seen how WB is able to give yet another franchise a second shot, after what it had to do with the DCEU. While James Gunn’s Superman will be headed to theatres this July, the series set in the Wizarding World is looking to release its freshman season in 2026.
