Lucky Cyan has one of the most tragic and traumatic experiences before growing into her own person and hero. Her family passed away in a plane crash, and she was the lone survivor. Liu Zheng (Queen’s father) found her and placed her in an orphanage.
Cyan’s luck started to show, and people gathered around her to fulfill their selfish wishes. This went on, and even the dean turned his evil gaze onto Cyan, turning her into a ‘sacred maiden’ and starting a cult that believes in her. Cyan managed to escape that place with the help of her one true friend, Luo, whose fate was unknown. Until now, that is.
Not another cheap narrative tragedy, but a happy ending
Unlike Lucky Cyan, whose luck seems to be unparalleled (even before her trust value was high), Luo is the exact opposite of her. Luo has always had a lot of misfortune. It was not just him, but even the people around him were getting negatively affected by his bad luck.

Lucky Cyan had a seemingly unassailable position in the hearts of many, and Luo spoke to her without any of the pressure. As they grew closer, Luo wanted to let Cyan break out of her confinement and truly be free.
It seemed like all was set when they escaped, but only Cyan managed to make it out. In order to stall the dean, Luo stayed back, and it seemed like his misfortune struck as a drunk driver sped past. It felt like just another tragedy, the power of the lost friend fuelling Cyan’s drive to win.

To Be Hero X seems to thrive in tragedies and emotional roller coasters, but it is admirable that it did not go down the road of cheap tricks. Luo survived, and that made Lucky Cyan’s story have a happy ending.
Lucky Cyan’s luck seems to be working
Lucky Cyan’s luck ability depended on the trust value of the people, like all other heroes. Breaking out of her ‘sacred maiden’ image (with a guitar) did not help this, as her powers weakened. As they were escaping, Lucky Cyan barely had a few strands of luck.

This is the reason Luo decided to sacrifice himself using the power of misfortune instead. Taking down the evil dean and letting Cyan go free. But it seems that Lucky Cyan is truly lucky.
Not only did Luo survive (properly, no strings attached), but she also got a little assistance from Hero X, prompting her to get back on her feet. A single coin reminded her that she could sing and play the guitar to earn a living.

This, along with her fame as the sacred maiden previously, helped her regain the lost trust value and even increase her powers. To Be Hero X is doing away with cheap tricks and focusing purely on the main narrative, which makes things even more interesting as we get to the Tournament arc.
You can currently stream To Be Hero X on Crunchyroll.
