Disney’s The Devil Wears Prada 2 recently got some exciting updates from returning star Emily Blunt. The Oppenheimer star revealed when the team will begin filming the much-awaited sequel, but acted coy when asked about the plot. It has been speculated that Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly will be competing with Blunt’s Emily Charlton.
Blunt and Streep have appeared in three movies together to date, and the sequel will be the fourth. In all three movies, the duo is on opposing sides and are at odds with each other. Emily Blunt addressed this in a recent interview, though she did not indicate whether the speculated plot of them as arch-rivals again was true.
Emily Blunt addresses on-screen beef with Meryl Streep ahead of The Devil Wears Prada 2

After Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday was postponed from its initial May 1, 2026, release date to December, the same day was given to Disney’s The Devil Wears Prada 2. The sequel to the hit 2000s comedy drama has been in the making for a long time now, even after the original novel got a sequel back in 2013.
Filming is reportedly yet to start, with Emily Blunt revealing that the sequel will begin production in July. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Oppenheimer star revealed little about the upcoming sequel, acting coy about the film’s plot. She played Emily Charlton in the first movie, a competitor and friend of Andy’s, played by Anne Hathaway.

There have been speculations that Blunt’s character will be a rival of Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada 2, as the legendary character deals with changing times. Blunt said in the interview,
[We are] so mean to each other in every movie [they] do. We always have beef with each other. I don’t know what it is. Let’s hope we remedy it. I’m not sure
Apart from the original The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt have appeared together in two more Disney films, Into the Woods and Mary Poppins Returns. In those films, too, Streep and Blunt were on opposing ends of the story.

When asked how they would be celebrating their fifteenth anniversary, Emily Blunt said that it would be on the sets of The Devil Wears Prada 2, which is reportedly set to begin filming in July. She said,

Blunt was referring to John Krasinski’s one-man show, Angry Alan, which he is performing off-Broadway. The actress also mentioned that her daughters are extremely excited to visit the sets of The Devil Wears Prada 2, as they were huge fans.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is expected to release on May 1, 2026 (USA).
