The authorities managed to de-escalate the situation at first, but he later took his own life by jumping off a tall building. This gave rise to the speculations that maybe Jong Seok committed suicide after a fight with his girlfriend.

However, on June 9, hoping to quash the rumours, Jong Seok’s sister revealed the real reason behind his death. She strongly denied the rumors that Jong Seok had died by jumping off the building where his girlfriend lived (via 8 Days).

His sister clarified that on that day, Jong Seok and his girlfriend were at different gatherings with friends. Jong Seok, unable to reach his girlfriend, went to her place to check on her, accompanied by a friend.

When they arrived, they found his girlfriend and some of her friends asleep. Jong Seok stayed behind to chat with the others. Later, he tried to wake his girlfriend up, which led to an argument.

His sister also shared that Jong Seok had been under intense stress after being swindled by a close friend, which wiped out all his savings and left him feeling deeply troubled. While the argument with his girlfriend wasn’t the main cause, the added pain of betrayal ultimately drove him to take his own life.
