RTE Fair City viewers all say same thing as Carrigstown residents gather with excitement for grand opening of new store

RTE Fair City viewers were all left saying the same thing as Lidl opened its first ever store in the heart of Carrigstown.

Earlier this year it was announced that the retailer had signed a three year deal with RTE’s long-running soap.

The fictional store has been built with a realistic Lidl interior and exterior designed by the retailer.

In tonight’s episode, Carrigstown residents gathered with excitement as Renee cut the ribbon for the grand opening of Lidl.

Mondo lined up a radio interview for Renee. Ruby disappointed Babs when she cancelled a booking for an important client.

A sheepish Ruby had to ask Babs for help when the Lidl reporter’s taxi didn’t turn up.

The reporter left her phone in the cab accidentally, but Babs returned it for no fee.

Renee smashed the interview. Carol was full of praise for Babs. Ruby apologised to Babs for doubting her customer service skills.

Renee, thrilled with the launch, agreed not to tell Lidl about Comet dropping the ball on the printer delivery and commended Mondo for a job well done, surprising both him and Kira.

RTE Fair City viewers raced to social media to share their thoughts on tonight’s episode.

Adam asked: “Do LIDL do shops that small?”

John joked: “I go to Lidl or Aldo once a week, Rafferty’s are practically living there.”

Another added: “Competition by the cast, who can say Lidl the most.”

Elsewhere, Ger put Liam on the spot at the Community Centre by dredging up his shady past in the Community Centre.

When Sharon found the locket that Ger was looking for, she questioned its worth.

Ger insisted it holds deep sentimental value. Sensing something was off, Sharon lied about having it.

Ger showed up at Sharon’s house under the guise of an apology.

CITY DRAMA

While Sharon and Liam were distracted, Ger quietly swiped Sharon’s keys.

Worried that Rafferty might withdraw his job offer, James stepped up by minding Milo.

James was stunned when he came across a letter of rejection from Holly’s internship.

After being bribed by James with sweets, Milo was sick. Sash defended James’s fathering skills to Rafferty.

Emma suggested that they should have a family portrait taken.

James remained adamant that Holly will be gone the moment she gets a better opportunity, taking Milo with her.
