With the One Piece lore reaching the second phase of the final saga, almost every major character has started making their move. Among them, the one that was totally unexpected was Imu, the final boss of One Piece, who is currently leading an attack on Elbaph and has caused uncontrollable chaos on the land of the Giants.
However, with Imu coming out of the shadows, there is a possibility that other characters also will have to showcase their potential and enter the battlefield as soon as possible. The two main One Piece characters who have been associated with Imu and Elbaph are Monkey D. Dragon and Shanks.
Thus, they are bound to enter the central storyline. This has led to a big debate on the internet where One Piece fans are trying to figure out which of the two characters will be stronger. As of yet, this debate is being won by Monkey D. Dragon for all the right reasons.
Dragon and Shanks will soon make a move
The One Piece story, at this moment, is at its most thrilling point yet. With Imu entering the main plot, the twists and turns have become totally unpredictable, and no one knows what Eiichiro Oda is planning for the future of Elbaph or for the next phase of One Piece. However, the one thing that is certain is that Dragon and Shanks will soon make a move.
In Shanks’ case, Elbaph is his territory, and he is the protector of the land of the giants in One Piece. It was already established that he has great ties with the nation and once he finds out that it is being targeted by the God’s Knights and the Supreme Leader of the World Government, there is no chance that he will let it pass by or sit idly and wait like he has been doing for the rest of the One Piece story.
Dragon’s case, on the other hand, is a little complicated. While it is a big possibility that he will make a move, the place he will attack is a little confusing. With Imu being at Elbaph, Mariejois is vulnerable, and it will be the perfect time to take control of it. However, there is a chance that he might go on to help his son Luffy and save his comrade Bartholomew Kuma, who is also currently on Elbaph.
Monkey D. Dragon might be stronger than Shanks
Although it is highly unlikely that Shanks and Dragon will ever clash in One Piece, fans are still intrigued to find out who among the two is the stronger One Piece character. While there is no doubt that both of them are quite capable, Dragon still comes out on top, and the only reason behind it is his parallels with the Marines and the World Government.
Since his introduction in One Piece, Dragon has been portrayed as the main rival of the World Government. Not only that, but even his subordinate was seen fighting the Five Elders and Imu during the Levely arc.

Plus, it was officially revealed that Dragon was in the Marines, and he was most likely on the same level as Akainu, the current Fleet Admiral of the Navy in One Piece.
According to the power structure established by Oda in One Piece, the Fleet Admiral stands above the Emperors of the Pirate world. Thus, by extension, Dragon also stands above Shanks in terms of power. However, as both characters have been kept a mystery for so long, there is no sure way of knowing which of the two is the more powerful One Piece character.
