Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Top 5 Hero Win Rates: The Tank That’s Absolutely Useless Against Fliers Made It to the List

It’s fair to say that Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 is one of the biggest shakeups in terms of in-game meta we’ve seen so far. This season brought us Ultron as a flying strategist, new balance updates, and features that enhance player expression in and outside combat.

Ultron’s addition to Marvel Rivals has brought in the flying meta that’s causing chaos in the competitive meta. Naturally, you’d expect a rise of heroes that have the tools to take down flying characters. However, that’s not really the case, as The Thing has managed to secure a spot among the top 5 heroes of the game despite the fact that he’s utterly useless against fliers.

The Thing is one of the top picks in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5

MarvelRivals.gg is a website that’s focused on providing gamers with information about everything in Marvel Rivals. Although Season 2.5 is still in its opening weeks, the website has been analyzing how the recent balance changes have influenced the hero shooter’s meta.

Currently, Human Torch is topping the weekly performance charts, followed by characters such as Luna Snow, Iron Fist, Wolverine, and The Thing. You read that right: The Thing has managed to climb up to the top spots of the weekly performance chat.

This is quite shocking as the current Marvel Rivals meta is dominated by fliers such as Storm, Iron Man, and the recently added Ultron. Add Jeff-nado to the mix, and there’s no limit to the chaos fliers can cause in the hero-shooter right now.

Most of the melee characters in the current Marvel Rivals meta are completely useless and unplayable. The worst of all are Vanguards, as none of them have decent counters against fliers. This hasn’t stopped the Thing mains, though.

The rise of The Thing in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 can be attributed to the players simply using his capabilities in the right manner and turning the tide of the battle. Since the release of the update, The Thing’s week-over-week rate has increased by 1%, and there’s a 7% increase in pick rate. Clearly, the Things aren’t scared of the flying menaces.

Marvel Rivals might add a highly requested feature soon

Will developer NetEase Games bring a new hero or implement some good old balance changes to deal with fliers? That’s something we don’t know yet. What we do know is that NetEase is probably a fan-requested feature in the hero-shooter.

Reputable insider RivalsInfo has taken to Twitter/X and revealed that Marvel Rivals is planning to bring a feature that will finally allow gamers to change lobby backgrounds. Those who have the option switched on will see the background centered around their chosen hero skin.

The leaker has also posted a video that gives us a look at how the lobby changes when selecting characters such as Hela, Scarlet Witch, Peni Parker, and Black Widow. If a character’s default skin is chosen, there will still be a fresh background in the lobby.

It’s an exciting feature, but it might be a good idea to temper your expectations. As stated by RivalsInfo, the feature is still in the early stages of development. There’s a chance that NetEase might scrap it or make other changes.

With that said, are you enjoying the current Marvel Rivals 2.5 meta? Let us know in the comments below.
