Anthony Hogg, 40, and his wife Georgina Hogg Moore were tragically killed on St Stephen’s Day in 2024 after being struck by a car while crossing the road near Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Georgina was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anthony died overnight in Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown after sustaining serious injuries.

The couple, who had two children, lived in the Whitestown area nearby.

Their teenage daughter suffered bruising in the collision but her injuries aren’t life threatening.

Gardai believe she may have been pushed to safety by her brave parents.

In a statement this morning, gardai confirmed that investigations into the fatal collision are “ongoing”.

A spokesperson said: “Gardai have arrested two persons this morning in relation to this fatal road traffic collision.

“A man, aged 40 years was arrested in connection with this investigation and he is currently detained under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda station in the Dublin.

“A female, aged in her 30s was arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.”

More than 50 people gathered at the scene of the St Stephen’s Day incident to pay tribute to the couple on December 27th 2024.

TRAGIC VIGIL

Floral tributes were placed at the scene and some of those gathered for the vigil held balloons as they remembered the couple.

Tributes poured in for Anthony and Georgina following their passing last year, with mourners telling how they were an “inseparable couple”.

One pal said: “I am so deeply sorry for the loss of two beautiful humans.

“An inseparable couple, best friends, husband and wife. Inseparable until the very end.

“May they get the best bed up there and look after everyone left behind. Rest in perfect peace beautiful angels.”

Another said: “I knew Anthony as a lovely man from growing up in Kilbarrack and Georgina as a lovely friendly face every morning on the school run.

“A truly beautiful couple that will be sorely missed. Sending love to the Hogg and Moore families.”
