Jey Uso, the Yeet-clad superstar, has become a phenomenon in the WWE. With the backing of the WWE universe, Jey Uso has become a cultural symbol. The high point in his career came when he defeated Gunther at WrestleMania 41 to win the World Heavyweight title.
But the rejoice of the Yeet universe ended in disappointment when Gunther took his revenge back from the Samoan wrestler and got his title back. Emotions erupted against this highly controversial decision by the WWE, particularly from Jey Uso’s father, Rikishi, who spewed fire against the WWE for the disappointing title reign.
Rikishi launches a scathing attack on the WWE for Jey Uso’s title reign

During an interaction at ‘Off the Top‘ podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer voiced his frustration about his son’s 51-day reign as the world heavyweight champion. Rikishi shared:
You didn’t do him justice. You didn’t feed this Champion right talent to be able to continue to make this champion. Not a fair shot in my eyes. So you go 51 days. I say fire, fire those that are writing for this kid here. If you can’t come up with something simple to promote and push your Champion, that you, not me, you decide to put this kid in that position, and then that’s it.
Further questioning WWE’s decision to sacrifice his son’s title reign, Rikishi questioned the logic of WWE’s creative heads behind giving Jey Uso such a short time as the World Heavyweight Champion.

He asked whether there is anyone who has more merchandise sales than his son and contributes more to the revenue of the company than him. Yet, after putting his heart and soul into, and managing to reach the peak of his abilities in the WWE, the storyline he was given proved to be inappropriate.
Rikishi also called on the WWE management to scrap whatever creative direction they are writing for Jey Uso. He also remarked that if they cannot think of an angle, they should step aside and let someone else take over who understands the value of his son in the WWE.
Jey Uso was also heavily criticized for how WWE dethroned him

While Rikishi had a different opinion on his son’s title reign ending on an unfortunate note, others blame Jey Uso for his end. One of the most prominent voices in this regard was the former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci, who had some contrasting and interesting thoughts of his own while talking about the 51-day title reign of the Yeet protagonist. Speaking on the Behind the Turnbuckle Shows’ The Coach and Bro Show, Carlucci shared:
People are coming to see him. They love him; they’re yeeting, the whole bit. But for me, he just didn’t elevate the championship. When Cody Rhodes won the title, he elevated… Jey didn’t change that much. His promos didn’t get any better… So, I think the reason why they gave it back to Gunther is he’s a steady guy. He’s an old-school, big-time heel that’s going to carry the strap, and he’s going to carry it well.
While losing the World Heavyweight title is indeed a huge setback for Uso, everything is not lost for the Samoan performer. The now former World Heavyweight Champion will get an opportunity to redeem himself at the King of the Ring qualifying match. It will be interesting to see if Jey Uso will manage to push back after the setback and cross paths with Gunther once again.
