James Gunn Confirms Wonder Woman Movie: This Star Wars Actor Should Replace Gal Gadot

James Gunn just dropped major news for DC fans: Wonder Woman is officially getting a reboot in his new DC Universe slate. While Gal Gadot’s time in the golden tiara seems to be over, fans are already speculating about who could fill those iconic boots next.

And one surprising name has entered the mix: a Star Wars star who’s got the grit, presence, and range to take Diana of Themyscira in a bold new direction. With Gunn’s vision shaking up the entire DC landscape, recasting Wonder Woman could be the most defining move yet. So, who’s ready to wield the Lasso?

Wonder Woman’s coming back, but not the way fans remember her. James Gunn just confirmed a new Wonder Woman movie is officially in the works for his revamped DC Universe. With Gal Gadot stepping away from the golden lasso, it’s open season for a fresh face, and Star Wars standout Adria Arjona is the name fans can’t stop buzzing about.

The project is being written right now, Gunn reportedly revealed, as part of his “Gods and Monsters” slate (via EW). While Superman is set to soar this July and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow follows in 2026, Diana Prince’s next chapter is slowly building behind the scenes. But here’s the twist: casting hasn’t happened yet. And Gunn’s keeping fans guessing.

So why Arjona? Well, she’s got the action chops (Andor), the charisma, and the quiet strength needed to reboot Wonder Woman from scratch – Gunn-style. And let’s face it, if he’s going to steer this universe into something bold and fresh, recasting a legacy hero like Diana takes more than just good looks and slow-mo sword swings. It takes presence. Arjona’s got it.

Meanwhile, other pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. The Batman Part II is still coming, just in a separate universe. And while the Lanterns series is halfway through filming, Gunn assures fans there’s a master plan behind all this… even if Justice League isn’t on the table just yet.

Bottom line: With James Gunn at the helm, the DCU’s next Wonder Woman could be something fans never saw coming, and Adria Arjona might just be the warrior to lead the charge.

Wonder Woman’s queen calls out DC’s “crazy” move to scrap a billion-dollar franchise

Connie Nielsen still isn’t over it, and she’s not alone. The Wonder Woman star, who played Hippolyta, says DC pulling the plug on a third film was straight-up “crazy.”

Despite Wonder Woman raking in $800M, Warner Bros. axed the third movie back in 2022. Blame the DC shake-up, new execs, and a whole new cinematic plan. But Nielsen’s not buying it.

“These are spectacular films,” she said, calling it “money on the table,” per Movie Web. With Gal Gadot and Chris Pine also stunned, fans are left wondering: why ditch a billion-dollar franchise?

For now, all eyes are on that Amazonian spinoff series.
