Meet the star-studded cast of the new SpongeBob movie
Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation have added a vibrant group of new talent to The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. However, their roles are still under wraps.
Regina Hall, a veteran of both comedy and drama, is best known for her roles in the Scary Movie franchise, Girls Trip, and the critically acclaimed indie Support the Girls.

George Lopez, Sherry Cola, and Arturo Castro each bring a unique comedic voice to the cast. Lopez, known for his hit sitcom and animated roles in Rio and The Smurfs, joins Cola, a breakout star from Joy Ride, and Castro, celebrated for Broad City and his sketch series Alternatino.
Then there’s Ice Spice, the four-time Grammy-nominated rapper whose viral track ‘Bikini Bottom’ made her a cultural fit for the SpongeBob universe long before this casting. It’s also a full-circle moment for the rapper, who has openly expressed her love for the animated character.

She even joked in a past video about having a crush on the Bikini Bottom native. “The only animated character I ever had a crush on was like SpongeBob, you know he’s very integrated in my life,” she said in a short clip previously shared by DJ Akademiks on Instagram.
With these new cast members onboard, Search for SquarePants is shaping up to offer a fresh take on the beloved franchise, blending familiar voices with new perspectives. More details about their roles are expected as the film’s December 2025 release approaches.
The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is currently slated to be released on December 19, 2025.
