If This Resident Evil Requiem Leak Holds True, We’re About to Witness the Comeback Everyone’s Been Begging For

The Resident Evil franchise is finally moving on from its series of remakes to give a brand new story. Not that Capcom hasn’t given us RE7 and RE8, but they weren’t tied to the Raccoon City storyline like all others before. Also, we’ll be seeing some new characters, which is even more exciting.

There are some leaks here and there, and some hints about a second playable character other than Grace Ashcroft. And no, it’s not a helpless character; it’s someone who is loaded with weapons. That surely narrows down the possibilities, as we know only a few in the series.

Resident Evil Requiem might bring back a fan favorite character

The Resident Evil franchise has introduced us to many iconic characters like Chris Redfield, Leon F. Kennedy, and Jill Valentine. While Chris has appeared in recent titles, the rest two didn’t get any appearances. Furthermore, the protagonist of Resident Evil 7 and 8 has been Ethan Winters, so it’s been a long time since we’ve seen our favorite.

In Resident Evil 9, we will see yet another new character named Grace Ashcroft, who is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak (2003). Grace is a technical analyst who is working on the aftermath of events that have taken place in the RE universe.

However, she likely won’t be alone as leaks suggested a second playable character that is loaded with guns. This certainly hints toward the return of Leon F. Kennedy, after so many years. We don’t know that for sure, but who else has an arsenal of weapons in their back pocket?

But again, some fans speculate it could be Jill Valentine as well, since she has the same qualities. Moreover, she was a big part of the Raccoon City storyline, so she can make an appearance too. But why not have both? Two is better than one, right? Tough thing to pull off, but it would be rejoiced by the whole RE community.

Oh, we also have some good news for first-person perspective fans as well. Resident Evil Requiem is said to feature both third and first-person views within the game. Yes, they are switchable, so you can experience the story in your preferred way! Personally, the first-person view always seems scarier because it’s more immersive.

The future for horror games looks great following late 2025

For horror game fans, the upcoming landscape of releases is looking very promising. We’ve gotten a look at multiple of them, and they look terrifying. In late 2025, we’ll be getting Silent Hill f in September 25, 2025. In 2026, Resident Evil Requiem is lined up for release as well. Furthermore, Mundfish is working on their horror game called Ill, and that seems petrifying.

Overall, the lineup of horror releases seems outstanding. Moreover, horror games are probably one of the best genres as they deal with raw human emotion, which is fear. It’s unnerving and makes us feel more alive.

If these games didn’t exist, we wouldn’t have known about our fears buried deep beneath us. Watching horror films is okay, but living through a waking nightmare through these games—that’s next level.
