How to Train Your Dragon is one of the most coveted and anticipated live-action adaptations of all time. For years, the original series has held a special place in the hearts of the fans. So much so that the world was terrified when it was announced that it would be adapted into a live-action film. While audiences were expecting some mess-up to ruin the film’s memory for them, the project has done no such thing.
Being a shot-for-shot remake of the original, audiences couldn’t have asked for a better adaptation of their favorite film. While this has been excellent, there are many other classic children’s cartoons that could use the same treatment, with the perfect example being that of Ben 10.
When the cast of the latest film was asked about Tom Holland potentially playing this character, they had extreme reactions, and the Spider-Man actor may not like them.
Tom Holland was rumored to play Ben 10
There has been a common theme among fans when it comes to fancasts. Whenever audiences are trying to figure out who could play a young-adult character with brown hair, chances are that Tom Holland’s name will be brought up. From thinking that he would be the perfect Batman to the ideal Red Hood, and even Invincible or The Flash, fans seem to think that he is the perfect cast for anyone.

Although Henry Cavill has also experienced something similar with his internet image, Holland’s seems almost hilariously random. In fact, he was also cast in one such fancast, playing the role of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted film.
While this has been considered to be one of the worst video game adaptations of all time, another one of his fan casts could top it. Over the years, fans of Ben 10 have been searching for the perfect face to play Ben Tennyson in a hypothetical live-action film. In this search, many have found themselves leaning towards Holland, thinking him to be the perfect choice for the role.

Although this sounds excellent in theory, considering Holland’s age during these discussions was ideal to play an older version of the character, it would not work for many reasons.
The cast of How to Train Your Dragon strongly disagrees
Considering how well the film has turned out, the cast of How to Train Your Dragon was recently asked about other classic cartoons that they wanted to see adapted into live-action (via DiscussingFilm). Deadpool 2 star Julian Dennison, who plays the role of Fishlegs in the film, brought up the subject of Ben 10.

With how iconic the character and his shows were, it isn’t surprising that the cast was excited at the idea of it finally getting a live-action adaptation, after all previous attempts have either failed or been disappointing.
However, the moment that Dennison brought up the possibility of Tom Holland playing the role of Ben Tennyson, expressions changed. The actor mentioned that he had heard rumors that fans wanted him to play the character and was very confused by the choice.
He even added that his co-star for the DreamWorks film, Gabriel Howell, should be picked instead. While such big decisions are better left to casting directors, there are many reasons why Holland would be a poor choice for the role. On top of the age difference between the actor and character being the biggest factor, Holland has been typecast in such roles time and time again.

Playing the young-adult lead of an action project with a level of lighthearted energy to it has been oversaturated for this actor, making audiences feel tired of seeing his face in all of their beloved characters. With this in mind, if another Ben 10 film were to be released, the studio should go with a new face to make sure it has all of the odds in its favor.
How to Train Your Dragon is out in theaters now.
