“Our heads could do with filling / With some interesting stuff.”
Looks like HBO took the Hogwarts anthem way too literally—because they’re officially stuffing our brains with magical updates, and we’re not even mad. The Wizarding World reboot just dropped another batch of spellbinding news: 9 new cast members have been confirmed for the upcoming Harry Potter series, and yes, their roles have been revealed too.
From Ministry officials to beloved professors and magical mischief-makers, this casting update got us feeling all the feels. After all, our beloved school bully, Draco “my father will hear about this” Malfoy, has also been revealed after days of suspense. So grab your wands, because HBO just turned into the Sorting Hat and made some big decisions.
Lox Pratt to play the school bully Draco Malfoy
Ever since HBO revealed its shiny new Golden Trio and Tom Felton teased his magical comeback in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, fans have been chomping at the bit to know: Who’s the new Draco Malfoy? Because let’s be honest—Draco may have been a school bully, a pure-blood snob, and an official Death Eater, but by the end of the series, the guy had us all sympathizing and rooting for him.

So now, finally after weeks of suspense that’s been more intense than a Quidditch final, HBO has dropped the name of our new Slytherin baddie—Lox Pratt. With a face that says “innocent first year” but eyes that scream “my father will hear about this,” Pratt seems to be the perfect blend of brat and brooding. The real question is—can he serve the signature eye roll, smug one-liners, and smooth wand-flicks like Felton?
So far, much like when Tom Felton first joined the Harry Potter films, even Lox Pratt seems to have at least one foot in the acting door, prior to his HBO debut. According to IMDb, Pratt is playing Jack in an episode of BBC One’s upcoming TV adaptation, Lord of the Flies. Which is pretty fitting, considering the story about loss of innocence and brutality is basically similar to that of J.K. Rowling’s fantasy novels.
Three new Hogwarts students join Harry Potter reboot
While dropping the big Draco Malfoy reveal, HBO also snuck in three more names headed straight for the Hogwarts sorting ceremony—and let’s just say, at least two of them better brace for some classic Slytherin sass from the new prince of mean.
Say hello to Gryffindor’s newest recruits—Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown. Yup, these three actors are officially signed up for exploding cauldrons, Yule Ball drama, and some dramatic Amortentia love for Won-Won (via Pottermore).
We all remember OG Seamus—Devon Murray’s legendary “oops-I-did-it-again” chaos king. So, we’ve got our fingers crossed for Earley—hope he brings the same wild energy and half-blood charm. Meanwhile, Parvati and Lavender were played by OG fashion-forward queens Shefali Chowdhury and Jessie Cave.

Now, while the original actresses served bold looks and emotions, we hope for the new child actors Leoni and Moosah to channel that same magical glam and teen wizard drama we have been living for. Well, just picture Moosah’s Lavender sobbing “Won-Won” to Alastair Stout’s Ron. It’s giving rom-com meltdowns all over again.
HBO found its Molly Weasley and Lucius Malfoy
So far, we’ve been buzzing about Hogwarts’ newest students—but hold onto your excitement, because HBO just dropped some serious parental plot twists! Yup, the reboot isn’t just recasting students; they’ve officially revealed the actors stepping into two of the most iconic parenting roles in the Wizarding World—Molly Weasley and Lucius Malfoy.
First up, the queen of cozy chaos herself—Molly Weasley—will be played by none other than Katherine Parkinson, the comedic powerhouse from The IT Crowd. We already know Parkinson can deliver sass and warmth in equal measure, but can she channel the fierce mama bear energy that made Julie Walters give us goosebumps with that legendary line: “not my daughter, you b*tch!”? With fingers crossed, let’s hope for the best.

Meanwhile, heading straight to the dark side of parenting, we’ve got the Lovesick actor Johnny Flynn, as the notorious antagonist, and father of Draco—Lucius Malfoy. Previously played by the ever-so-menacing Jason Isaacs, Flynn’s got big evil-dad energy to live up to. After all, Isaacs made the role unforgettable with every icy glare and dramatic swish of his cane.
Now Flynn has to serve a similar level of peak pure-blood elitism—we’re talking polished robes, sleek blonde hair, and that judgmental sneer. All the best to both Parkinson and Flynn, because the family drama at Hogwarts just leveled up.
The Dursley couple joins the upcoming TV show
Now that HBO has locked in some wizarding parents, it’s time to peek behind the perfectly trimmed hedges of Number 4, Privet Drive—because the Dursleys have officially been recast as well! Say hello to the new monarchs of passive-aggressive parenting from the Muggle world—Petunia and Vernon Dursley.

Bel Powley, known for her standout roles in Masters of the Air and The Morning Show, is bringing her razor-sharp acting chops to Aunt Petunia. But she certainly has a challenge ahead of her, considering how Fiona Shaw previously delivered a sassy and eye-roll-heavy version of a nosy neighbor.
And then there’s Daniel Rigby—BAFTA winner and scene-stealer from Eric and Ernie and Black Mirror—who’s all set to bellow his way into breakfast as Uncle Vernon. Once again, with Richard Griffiths having already given us a masterclass in shouty, red-faced rage, Rigby has got big slippers to fill.
However, if these two can serve even half the nosy neighbor energy and magical hatred that Shaw and Griffiths gave us, we’ll know that the Muggle menace is in safe, extremely judgmental hands.
HBO’s Harry Potter reboot has a new Minister of Magic
With witches and wizards literally pouring into the new and revamped Hogwarts under HBO, it clearly made the studio realize they need someone to keep the magical mess in check. So, who better to oversee wizarding politics and daily denial than the Minister of Magic himself—Cornelius Fudge.

So this time, HBO cast the master of on-screen drama, Bertie Carvel in the role of Fudge. Known for his intense performances in The Crown and Doctor Foster, Carvel is trading royal scandals for magical ones. And certainly, like most of his castmates, even this actor has big shoes to fill, after Robert Hardy made Fudge unforgettable.
Remember, how the late actor delivered the ultimate Ministry gaslighter? This man was the epitome of peak bureaucratic denial. Like, he refused to believe Voldemort was back until it was practically raining Death Eaters. Now, Carvel might just need to level that up with a Fudge who’s not just clueless, but deliciously chaotic.
So far, we’re hoping for a corrupt and unhinged Cornelius Fudge, who’s got a little more flair, a few more secrets, and maybe even a wizard scandal waiting to happen. Either way, we believe HBO can be trusted in making Ministry politics a must-watch moment with Bertie Carvel in the play.
Previously revealed actors of the Harry Potter TV show
Let’s revise the names of all the above-mentioned actors, who are set to step into the Wizarding World.
Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bel Powley as Aunt Petunia, Daniel Rigby as Uncle Vernon, and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.

Now, these 9 actors join many previously announced cast members, which include John Lithgow’s wise Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer’s Transfiguration Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu‘s sneering Potions Professor Severus Snape, and Nick Frost‘s Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid.
Well, if you thought the Sorting Hat was done, you couldn’t be more wrong. Because the HBO reboot also hired Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as the Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch. But the best casting so far has been the Golden Trio—starring Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout (via HBO).
McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Stout as the new Ron Weasley will run through Platform 9¾, to give the new generation of Potterheads their journey through the Wizarding World. Mischief managed.
