If there is one digital entity that can make the entire internet collectively hold its breath, it’s the Grand Theft Auto series, and with Rockstar finally revealing the release date of their new game, GTA 6, fans are literally shaking (read vibrating) with anticipation. The upcoming game will probably be the biggest cultural phenomenon since GTA 5.
While the list of rumored and confirmed features just keeps on getting longer, a recent leak from some industry insiders suggests that certain artists might be getting their own Radio Stations in GTA 6. This rumor has got me thinking, will console players get a chance to add their favourite tunes to the game finally? Let’s delve deeper into this and find out.
Drake might be getting his own radio station in GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto 6, or GTA 6, is an upcoming open-world action-adventure game that is being developed and published by Rockstar Games. The game is going to be the eighth main installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, and although the game was supposed to be released in the Fall of this year, the developers pulled the rug from under our feet and postponed the launch to 26 May 2026.
Leaks and rumors about the most anticipated game of the year are not really a big thing, but when music producer Jermaine Dupri dropped a leak in the new episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast, fans are bouncing off the walls. According to the Grammy-winning producer, he was approached by Grand Theft Auto, specifically mentioning how music artists like Drake could have their own radio stations in the game.
They asked me to do Grand Theft Auto, and they were saying like Drake got his own radio station on Grand Theft Auto, the way that they [are] getting ready to do it is that Drake can actually upload music that we probably ain’t never even heard online or wherever else, on that video game.
While this might not be that interesting for a lot of people who are bedazzled by the game’s graphics, having famous artists potentially hosting entire radio stations with exclusive music is just groundbreaking stuff. This opens huge prospects for console players who are practically down on their knees for self-radio.
Self-radio is a custom radio station in GTA 5 and GTA 5 online, where PC players can put their downloaded songs in a folder (usually C:Users[username]DocumentsRockstar GamesGTA VUser Music) and can listen to them just like any other radio station in the game. This reason why this feature is exclusive to PC only is because console operating systems are much more locked down, hence players cannot just mess with the game files.
This will probably be a huge win for console players

If the leaks turn out to be true about artists like Drake really getting their hands on their own radio stations, then Rockstar might be cooking something that goes way beyond just in-game radios. GTA 6 could change how music lives inside the video games altogether.
And for console players, this could finally be the answer to their dream of having a custom radio station. Sure, we console players might not get drag-and-drop folders like on GTA 6 from PC, but this could be Rockstar’s way of bringing that same level of personalization to new-gen consoles.
In the end, giving players their own music to connect with, curated with artists that they love, is something that we believed was impossible, but looking at Rockstar right now, it feels like they can pull off just about anything.
