Model Gigi Paris recently revealed details about her breakup with “Anyone But You” actor Glen Powell, which occurred in April 2023. Speaking on the Too Much podcast, Paris shared her side of the story more than two years after their highly publicized split.
According to People, the breakup took place while Powell was filming “Anyone But You” in Australia with co-star Sydney Sweeney. At the time, Paris had planned to travel to Australia for work commitments, including a bridal shoot, and had already secured her visa after a lengthy process.
Before her scheduled trip, Powell called Paris to discourage her visit, telling her, “The producers and I have discussed that I think it’s best that you don’t come to visit.” This phone call marked a turning point for Paris, who said she “hung up” immediately and realized the relationship was “done.”
Model reveals she was banned from movie set during final goodbye
Despite Powell’s request, Paris decided to fly to Australia anyway, specifically to end their relationship face-to-face. However, her stay in Australia became complicated as she was prohibited from approaching the movie set or any production areas during her two-week work commitment.
The couple’s final meeting in Australia was emotional, with Paris describing it as their “goodbye” that involved “lots of tears” and conversations. But Powell’s mother later dismissed the persistent romance rumors as “silly,” saying Sweeney was “just a really, really good friend”
Their breakup coincided with growing speculation about a potential romance between Powell and his co-star Sweeney. While Sweeney dismissed these rumors in a Variety interview, stating it was simply part of the romantic comedy promotion, Powell later admitted to Insider that the situation was particularly challenging for him as he was “going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour.”
Paris reflected on the experience during the podcast, expressing her disappointment in Powell’s handling of the situation. She revealed that this incident led to her falling out of love, questioning his ability to “stand up for yourself.” The breakup was officially confirmed by People in April 2023, during the period when Powell and Sweeney were actively promoting their film together.
