‘Dandadan’ Is Already Defeating ‘Solo Leveling’ Even Before Season 2’s Release

Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains spoiler from the Dan Da Dan manga.

Dandadan made quite the splash when it was first released. The vibrant animation, character designs, and music are the cherry on the cake. The same can be said for the upcoming movie that has us in a chokehold.

Undoubtedly, the franchise is using the same formula as most new-gen anime. That is, to release the first few episodes in a film format, and this worked out in their favor. The movie is defeating one of the colossals in modern anime.

Yes, we’re indeed talking about Solo Leveling. Science SARU did the unthinkable by surpassing and outrivalling its biggest competitor. This is a significant victory even before Season 2’s release, and here’s why!

Dandadan: Evil Eye surpasses Solo Leveling: Reawakening

From Anime of the Year to Best Opening, Dandadan has been bagging accolades and awards. The first season indeed started and ended with a bang! It truly did justice to all the hype and popularity surrounding the series.

For us weebs, it’s always good to keep expectations low. That way, we steer clear of disappointment, but Science SARU had us floored. The background score, animation, fight scenes, and the vibrant visuals are beyond impressive.

Now, it’s true that currently, Solo Leveling has a strong hold in the anime space. The series set a benchmark through its commendable and stellar animation. However, Yukinobu Tatsu isn’t one to be watered down.

Releasing episodes in film format might just be the secret sauce to its success, but that is not it. The studio went above and beyond to render their craftsmanship for Tatsu’s endeavor.

On the whole, this is a ginormous victory for the fandom, mainly because this comes before Season 2’s release. It’s bussin’ and to be honest, the second season might raise the stakes. Here’s what you can expect from it.

What can fans truly expect from Season 2?

The second season will explore the Cursed House Arc and the Evil Eye Arc in detail. It was in the first season that Momo and Okarun traveled to Jiji’s hometown to uncover the secrets behind the hauntings. But there’s more to it.

The Kito Family is the one behind all the hauntings happening in Jiji’s house. They are the worshippers of the tsuchinoko, though that’s entirely questionable. The child sacrifices and the men’s predatory antics toward Momo are some instances.

What’s more? The Second Cour would focus more on the resolution of the chaos. The conflict that is caused and eventually peddled by the Kito Family will bring to light the history of Tsuchinoko. But we’re not done yet!

With the upcoming Second Season, the plot thickens, and we know one thing. While there are foes, there are allies as well. The arcs would dive deep into the makings of these yokai. But most of all, this win is the true highlight of this season!

Dandadan: Evil Eye is now available in theatres in the US. The second season is slated for release in July 2025.
