Cody Rhodes Takes a Cheeky Dig at Hulk Hogan Ahead of His Fight With Damian Priest

Ever since his return to the WWE, Cody Rhodes has transitioned himself to an intense performer inside the ring. A standout moment in his career came when he defeated The Judgement Day and Drew McIntyre at Survivor Series: Wargames 2023.

However, the American Nightmare, before his high-stakes clash against some of the most emphatic WWE superstars, decided to take a page from veteran WWE wrestler Hulk Hogan’s playbook. The interesting quip came out during Damien Priest’s recent interaction with Cody Rhodes. The words he said were nothing but baffling concerning the kind of persona Rhodes carries in the WWE.

A conversation involving Cody Rhodes revealed the words he used for Hulk Hogan

During a recent interaction between Damien Priest and Cody Rhodes on the What Do You Wanna Talk Podcast, the former WWE Champion talked about the time when he had an altercation with the Judgment Day at Survivor Series in 2023.

Priest was unhappy with the outcome, claiming that JD McDonagh had already received an RKO from the top of the cage and that Rhodes didn’t need to pin him. Rhodes, meanwhile, handled the situation calmly, boasting about the win and even making a lighthearted allusion to Hulk Hogan. After Priest complained about how he won the match, the American Nightmare shared:

There was more. Yeah. Hogan must pose.

In wrestling, the expression “Hogan must pose” is widely used and is especially associated with the career of Hulk Hogan. It stems from the notion that Hogan would always conclude his segments by posing for the audience, thereby enhancing his exaggerated persona, regardless of the result of the match.

The phrase has been widely discussed in wrestling circles, often linked to Hogan’s insistence on maintaining his heroic image, even in matches where he could have put others over him. In this regard, Cody Rhodes implied that he had to pin JD McDonagh so that he could get a photogenic, popular ending to the match.

During the same conversation, Cody Rhodes made a startling revelation. The American Nightmare talked candidly about a crazy experience the WWE crew had attempting to get to a show running in El Paso. He clarified that the WWE had to hire a private jet for him and Rollins to get there because the production team was caught in a severe snowstorm.

Cody and Seth Rollins had to take over and manage the show themselves since the weather prevented producers from being present. He recalled that they had to assist in running everything behind the scenes, even telling wrestlers to contact the Commission for information, so it wasn’t just about timing matches or giving brief cues.

Exciting times are up ahead for Rhodes. After his recent win in a tag team match against the combined forces of Logan Paul and John Cena, Rhodes is ready to counter the 17-time world champion one more time and reclaim what was rightfully his before his unfortunate loss at WrestleMania 41. In what manner will he manage to end Cena’s title reign? Only time has the answer to this question.
