Chippa United are reportedly targeting Rulani Mokwena‘s mentee Sinethemba Badela as their next head coach.
This despite reports that The Chilli Boys are closing in on Marumo Gallants coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
Ouaddou announced his departure from Gallants but the club later dismissed his resignation, saying he remains their coach.
Now, it appears Chippa United are not prepared to be involved in a bitter battle with Gallants over Ouaddou ahead of next season.
Hence the decision to shift focus on Badela who had been working with Mokwena for quite some time now.
Should Badela agree to coach Chippa United, he would be taking over from SuperSport United legend Thabo September.
Badela previously coached the now-defunct All Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship before moving to Sundowns, thanks to Mokwena’s influence.
And when Sundowns sacked Mokwena, Badela also left, only to reunite with his mentor at Wydad as his assistant.

“SABC Sport has established that Chippa United could be closing in on their next head coach to replace Thabo September,” reads part of the report.
“According to information provided to the public broadcaster, Sinethemba Badela has emerged as the hot favourite to take the reins at the Chilli Boys ahead of the 2025/26 season.
“Indications are that they want Badela to lead this resurgence and fresh chapter for the club next season, but talks are ongoing with an offer believed to have already been tabled for the coach.”
