Three Instagram settings that could EXPOSE your cheating partner and the Google Maps clue they don’t want anyone to find

SMARTPHONES hold a treasure trove of data that cheating partners will do everything in their power to keep hidden.
I should know, as I caught an ex messaging other guys through a series of sneaky app protections despite his best attempts to keep it all a secret.

Of all the digital spaces that fed into my concerns during that time, Instagram was high up there.
I saw too many people liking my partners photos and overly flirty comments written on them too.
It did make me wonder, is my partner doing the same on other people’s profiles?
There are a number of hidden settings on Instagram that can reveal all that and more.
However, raiding through a partner’s phone is a breach of trust and technically it’s illegal too.
Instagram activity
On the settings page there’s an activity option which can show all the likes and comments from an account.
Tap each and a full lowdown appears, starting from the most recent.
There are even toggles to set date range, so people can go back to specific dates.
And a Filter by Author drop down shows every single like the account has made for that individual’s account too.
SECRETS BEHIND THE HIDDEN CALCULATOR APP

By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor
After a number of suspicious incidents I did some digging on my partner’s iPhone a few years ago, despite the risk.
It’s not something I’m proud of but sometimes you have to trust your gut.
I had heard that some dating apps allow you to disguise the icon as a calculator.
What a genius idea – no one would think to tap on an innocent, boring calculator icon.
So, I took the plunge and sure enough there was a fake calculator which opened up a dizzying number of saucy messages and unspeakable pics.
Hidden photo tags
Photo tagging is another forgotten feature love rats need to careful of.
Cheats that want to keep quiet about an outing they shouldn’t be doing won’t approve photo tags.
And some people simply don’t know that this feature even exists.
Under the tag requests option, there’s all the photos that have been left unapproved for tagging onto the user’s profile page.
This is found under the tags option from the menu, followed by pending tags to see.
Elsewhere, anything that’s been searched in the main search bar is visible too.
All anyone has to do is tap the Recent Searches button.
GOOGLE MAPS LOCATIONS EXPOSED

Who doesn't use Google Maps to get around?
There’s a Timeline feature that remembers all the locations you’ve entered – unless you delete them.
Anyone with access to your phone can even navigate through it by day to check specific dates.
It’s all on the You tab at the bottom of the Google Maps app.
Under Timeline, anyone can explore through the dates.

Our lives are being made hell by angry shoppers parking in our street… despite 500-space strong car park metres away
FURIOUS locals say their lives are being made a misery by Costco shoppers clogging up their street — even though there’s a huge 500-space car park just metres away.
Residents of Torrington Avenue in Coventry claim they’re being sworn at and even threatened by customers using their road to park instead of the store’s own car park.

They’ve now begged the council for a residents-only parking scheme, saying the situation is unbearable — especially for those with kids or mobility issues.
In a petition to the council, they said: “Customers regularly use the street to park which at peak times not only means that residents struggle to find space but have recently also been facing verbal abuse and threats from customers.”
They added: “The current parking situation is especially an issue for those with small children and limited mobility as having to park further away constantly is a challenge.
“Costco has over 500 spaces which is more than ample to meet demand, and there is no reason why customers and staff need to use the street at the expense of residents.”
Locals say the situation gets worse on weekends and during Costco’s busiest hours.
Some have even resorted to putting up cones and signs in a desperate attempt to keep spaces outside their homes clear.
One resident, who didn’t want to be named, said: “It’s chaos some days.
“You get people blocking driveways and shouting abuse when you ask them to move.
“It’s just not right when there’s a perfectly good car park sitting almost empty.”
Despite the outcry, Coventry City Council looks set to reject the request.
Officials say parking levels in the area simply don’t meet the threshold needed for action.
A similar bid for restrictions was made last year, also covering Torrington Avenue between the A45 and Eastcotes.
That too was knocked back after surveys showed enough spaces were still available.
A council report explained: “The parking survey conducted in response to that petition showed that the section of Torrington Avenue highlighted did not meet the parking availability criterion set out in the Council’s Residents’ Parking Policy (less than 40 per cent of spaces available during the daytime).”
A follow-up check on Thursday 3 April 2025 reached the same conclusion — with 54 per cent of spaces free, well above the required threshold.
The report concluded: “As the recent parking survey shows that the number of parking spaces available during the daytime (54 per cent) still exceeds the criterion for consideration for a residents’ parking scheme, the Cabinet Member is recommended to decline the request for a residents’ parking scheme on Torrington Avenue between Eastcotes and the A45.”
The final decision rests with Councillor Patricia Hetherton, the cabinet member for city services, who will make the call at a meeting on Tuesday, June 11.
Residents say they fear things will only get worse if action isn’t taken soon.
Some have even started discussions about installing private barriers or applying for dropped kerbs to stop people using their space.
Another local added: “We understand people want to save a bit of time by parking on the road, but it’s not fair on us who live here.
“We just want to be able to park near our homes without having to deal with arguments or walk down the street with kids and shopping.”
Despite the council’s findings, residents say they’ll keep fighting.
They’re urging others in the area to speak out and hope that pressure from the community might still sway the decision.
The Sun has reached out to both Costco and Coventry City Council.

One of the UK’s best seaside towns set to get new tidal lido on the beach
PLANS have been proposed for an outdoor tidal pool at one of the UK’s oldest seaside towns.
New plans have revealed a three-sided outdoor swimming pool, at the top of Scarborough South Bay.

If approved, the pool would have sand running into it and a sheltered beach and bathing area for children.
The Scarborough Safe Sea Swimming Project’s proposed site at Children’s Corner is located near to the busy town centre, beach and next to the historic Scarborough Spa.
A feasibility study was also presented to councillors, which was commissioned by North Yorkshire Council completed by outdoor swimming specialists and architects Studio Octopi.
The study highlighted the potential boost to the local economy and benefits to well-being and health.
The study also advised that there should be a pre-planning application “given the unique and rare nature of tidal pool projects”.
According to the BBC, Councillor Rich Maw said: “This idea began in the simplest of ways – with a letter from two local sea swimmers who asked me, ‘How do we build a swimming pool?’
“That one question has grown into a meaningful conversation, and now, the foundations of a community-led and deliverable plan.
“Scarborough’s South and North Bays are already loved by sea swimmers year-round. Cold water swimming is growing rapidly in popularity and for good reason.”
Scarborough was named one of the UK’s best seaside towns by Conde Nasté Traveller last month, praising its reinvention of itself.
Not only that, but Scarborough is the country’s oldest holiday resort, dating back to the mid 1600s.
Even nicknamed ‘Scarbados,’ its long stretch of sand are the popular draw.
There is also an English tidal lido right on the beach that you can only visit twice a day.
Located in the historic fishing village in West Cornwall, Mousehole Rock Pool is open for 24 hours a day.
However, when you can swim in the pool, depends on whether the tide is in or out.
Due to being a tidal swimming spot, visitors can only have a dip twice a day.
Essentially, during high tide the pool is exposed to the sea and fills with more water.
But then during low tide, the pool can drain and will become shallower.
The tide varies throughout the year, but in summer, Mousehole usually has two high tides a day – in mid-morning and the evening.
Plus, a unique Victorian lido with outdoor lazy river to reopen with new £250k splash zone.

NHS issues urgent call for 200,000 blood donors to avoid critical emergency as stocks run low
THE NHS has issued an urgent plea for 200,000 blood donors to come forward to replenish dwindling stocks and help prevent a critical emergency.
Officials warned more must be done to avoid a “red alert” – where blood stocks are so low that there is a threat to public safety.

The NHS needs over one million regular blood donors to maintain its blood supply, NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) said – this works out to about 5,000 donations every day.
But it revealed there’s an annual shortfall of over 200,000 donors as demand for blood supply surges.
NHSBT issued an “amber alert” in July last year, after a cyber attack on London hospitals triggered a severe shortage of O negative blood.
The alert has been in place ever since as blood stocks have remained low, making it country’s longest ever running “amber alert”.
Following several bank holidays, officials warned of a looming “red alert” unless more people come forward.
This can be avoided if more donors come forward to fill available appointment slots, particularly in donor centres towns and cities.
NHSBT said there is currently a “critical” need for more donors who have the so-called universal blood type – O negative blood – which is needed for treatment in emergencies.
More black donors are also needed, as they are more likely to have a specific blood type called Ro that can help treat people with sickle cell disease, the country’s fastest growing genetic blood disorder.
Chief executive of NHSBT, Dr Jo Farrar, said: “Our stocks over the past 12 months have been challenging. If we had a million regular donors, this would help keep our stocks healthy – you’d truly be one in a million.
“Please book an appointment today, experience how good it feels to save lives, and come and do it again in a few months.”
Dr Farrar added: “There are many thousands of people who donate regularly and help us keep patients alive. Thank you. You are amazing.
“You keep the NHS going and save and transform thousands of lives a year.”
Over the past year, England has seen an increased wave of blood donation registrations.
But only one in four of them (24 per cent) have gone on to donate.
Everything to know about giving blood
DONATING blood can be an amazing gift to people who desperately need it for on-going medical treatment or in an emergency.
But who exactly is eligible to provide a donation? Here is all you need to know…
Who can give blood?
Most people are eligible to give blood.
You can donate if you are:
- fit and healthy
- weigh more than 7st 12lbs or 50kg
- are aged between 17 and 66 (or 70 if you have given blood before)
- are over 70 and have given blood in the last two years
Men can donate more often than women can.
How often can I give blood?
Men can give blood every 12 weeks, while women can donate every 16 weeks.
This is because it takes several weeks for all the red blood cells to be replaced in the body.
Over 6,000 people are needed to donate each day to meet the needs of hospitals, and there is a drive for black donors to donate to help black patients with sickle cell disease.
To make an appointment to donate your blood at the nearest centre, click here.
What happens when you give blood?
Appointments to give blood typically last no longer than an hour.
1. Welcome and preparation
You will be given a leaflet to read and 500ml of fluid to drink just before you give blood. You’ll be asked to drink it over a five-minute period to help ensure you don’t feel faint or nauseous after donating.
2. Health screening
NHS staff will make sure it is safe for you to donate, and that your blood is safe for a patient to receive.
3. Giving blood
Once you are comfortable in a chair, staff examine your arm to find a suitable vein and clean it with antiseptic.
A needle will then be inserted into your arm, which will be used to collect your blood into a blood bag with your unique donor number.
You shouldn’t feel any discomfort or pain.
If you do, tell a member of staff.
A scale is then used to weigh the blood you have donated, and stops when you’ve given 470ml.
This usually takes between five and ten minutes.
The needle is then removed and a dressing is put on your arm.
Director of Blood Supply, Gerry Gogarty, said: “We offer around 50,000 appointments in 27 NHS donor centres and 250 community venues every week.
“We need to fill those appointments to supply the NHS with enough blood. Sadly, we are struggling to fill all the available slots.
“We know people want to donate – we’ve seen record registrations over the past year. Making it easier to donate is our priority so we are opening new donor centres and looking at how we can increase appointments close to where people live.
“Blood stocks are critically low and there’s a pressing need to avoid a “red red”. We can do this if we fill the available appointment slots – particularly in town and city centres.
“That could have a severe impact on the NHS with non-urgent services potentially being paused to focus on the most critical needs.”

Two thirds of all the blood currently collected is used to treat patients who rely on blood transfusions, including cancer and life-long blood conditions.
Four-year-old Isaac from Hull relies on regular blood donations, as he was born with hereditary spherocytosis.
This is a genetic blood condition which causes red blood cells to break down faster than normal, leading to severe anaemia and other complications.
Isaac needs blood transfusions every 12 weeks to stay healthy.
His mum, Jasmin said: “It’s been a rollercoaster; Isaac’s haemoglobin levels fluctuate, and when they drop significantly, he becomes lethargic and jaundiced.
“But when he receives his transfusion, you see the colour return to his cheeks, and his energy levels soar before our eyes. It is incredible.”
Isaac still enjoys attending nursery, playing with friends and dressing up as his favourite superheroes, and says he is like the superhero Hulk, gaining strength with each transfusion.
Jasmin added: “During his transfusions, he refers to donor blood as ‘Hulk blood’ and imagines himself becoming stronger and healthier.
“But this wouldn’t be possible without the real life, everyday superheroes who keep Isaac and others like him alive, thanks to their regular blood donations.
“Until you’re one of those who need blood yourself or know someone who does, it may not always be a priority.
“But Isaac’s journey has put things into perspective. Isaac’s journey has inspired me to become a blood donor myself.
“It’s a small act that can make a big difference in someone’s life.”
Gerry called on people living in towns and cities to visit donor centres to donate blood and book daytime slots if possible.
“If you live or work near one of our 27 donor centres, please come and give blood this National Blood Week (June 9 to 15).
“If you already donate, why not bring a friend or family member. We need blood all year round and every day.
“Men can donate every three months and women every four months. So please donate regularly.”
