HOME Secretary Yvette Cooper has been offered a cash incentive to slash the eye-watering costs of migrant hotels.
The Sun understands that Chancellor Rachel Reeves will let her Cabinet colleague keep a higher proportion of the savings on asylum spend the quicker she cuts it.

A staggering £4billion a year is currently being splurged on accommodating migrants who have arrived on small boats or lorries.
Insiders close to the negotiations said Ms Reeves wants Ms Cooper to save around £500million next year, and £1billion the year after.
While ordinarily the Chancellor would claw back money saved, she will reward the Home Secretary with keeping some of the recouped cash for other projects if she excels the targets.
Ms Cooper has been lobbying furiously for a more generous settlement from the Treasury in next Wednesday’s Spending Review, where Whitehall budgets are set.
She has insisted she needs more money for frontline policing – who have their work cut out as fewer criminals go to jail – and the security services trying to thwart rising threats.
Labour is under intense pressure to cut the ballooning cost of housing illegal migrants, with Channel crossings at a record high.
The National Audit Office now estimates taxpayer spending on migrant hotels to be £15.3billion over 10 years – three times higher than originally estimated.
The number of migrants in hotels has risen on Sir Keir Starmer’s watch, having risen from 29,585 before the election to 38,079 in December, before falling back to 32,345 in March.
Ms Reeves has faced bitter battles with Cabinet ministers over their funding, including Housing Secretary Angela Rayner who last night had still not settled with the Treasury.
The Chancellor is refusing to break her fiscal rules by increasing borrowing, leaving very little money to increase day-to-day departmental spending.

It is a deep treatment that is said to “revive dry, brittle hair in need of TLC”.
The vegan, cruelty-free formula is free from animal-derived ingredients and has a “sweet, yummy scent for hair that smells divine.”
What are the biggest hair care mistakes?
Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous.
Not looking after your scalp
Your scalp is an extension of the skin on your forehead and it should be given similar attention and care to the skin on your face. Scalp health is vital to healthy hair growth. Your scalp is your hair’s support system, and a flaky or inflamed scalp can contribute to hair loss and also impact the quality of hairs as they emerge from the follicle. Do cleanse and tone your scalp frequently. Try to leave no more than 2 days between shampoos.
High heat styling
The most common cause of hair damage is high heat styling – either with a blow dryer or straighteners. While it may take a little longer, a low to medium heat setting will give you great styling results, but without dryness, breakage and split ends. You should also always use a heat protective product such as our Daily Damage Defence and don’t hold your dryer right next to your strands.
Not eating well
Even if you’re using the best products in the world, if you aren’t eating well your hair’s condition and rate of growth won’t be at its optimal. Hair is a dispensable tissue as it isn’t needed for physical survival. This means nutrients are first used to keep essential cells functioning, with hair receiving them last.
This multi-use product can be used in three different ways – either as a daily deep conditioner, a three minute treatment or an intensive mask.
So if you’ve got dry hair that’s in serious need of some TLC, a big squeeze of this bargain buy is sure to be the “ultimate treat to take brittle, dry and damaged hair from lost-cause to luscious.”
Not only this, but your locks are said to be left “heroically hydrated and deeply conditioned for up to three days – all while retaining lightweight moisture.”
Rave reviews
And online shoppers are clearly loving it, as it has raved up hundreds of five star reviews online.
Not only have many said their hair has become “softer” after using it, but those with bleached locks praised the effective product.
As soon as it touches my hair it becomes softer. I can easily run my fingers through it. It washes out beautifully too
Online shopper
One woman beamed: “I bought this a few weeks ago and I use it once a month. I have bleached hair and this is amazing stuff!
“Makes my hair soft and not dry or dehydrated like some hair masks/conditioners do. I would definitely recommend.”
Rush hair expert reveals how to repair damaged hair
TINA Farey, Editorial director at Rush Hair, shares her advice…
HOW TO RESTORE DAMAGED HAIR
Whilst you can’t fully reserve the effects of damaged hair, you can stop the problem from growing.
Depending on the condition of your hair, I’d recommend getting a trim every six to eight weeks – this will prevent any split ends from travelling further up the hair shaft, which weakens the hair’s overall structure and leads to more breakage.
Even just an inch of the ends will completely transform the appearance of your hair – trust me.
When it comes to products to help restore damaged hair, Goldwell’s Rich Repair Treatment Mask is a firm favourite – strengthening damaged locks to be healthy and shiny once again.
HOW TO PREVENT DAMAGE
My number one tip is to always use a heat protectant – even if you’re only blow-drying your hair.
Consistent heat styling without one will leave your hair open to heat damage.
I’d also recommend refraining from over-washing your hair as this can strip the hair of its natural oils – nobody wants a dry and irritated scalp!
And finally, swap your sleek, slick back for a hair down day!
They may be in fashion at the moment, but over time all that tension on your strands from being pulled will wreak havoc on your hair follicles – this could lead to thinning and bald spots in areas where the hair is constantly pulled.
A second chimed in: “I have been using this for many years and I wouldn’t use anything else, it revives my hair every time.”
Whilst someone else penned: “I’ve tried very expensive conditioners and super cheap ones. Aussie is by far the best.
“As soon as it touches my hair it becomes softer. I can easily run my fingers through it. It washes out beautifully too, leaving my hair so smooth.”

THE UK’s biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot could be won by a single ticket-holder tonight.
Tonight’s jackpot has reached an estimated £208 million and would make the lucky winner richer than Adele.
GettyA rollover on Tuesday boosted the jackpot to record levels[/caption]
GettyThe prize will make the lucky winner richer than singer Adele[/caption]
National Lottery operator Allwyn said this was the biggest prize the UK has seen to date.
Players can watch the draw live tonight at 8:45pm on the National Lottery website or on YouTube.
An anonymous UK ticket holder won the existing record jackpot of £195 million in July 2022.
Just two months earlier, Joe and Jess Thwaite, from Gloucester, won £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket for the draw in May 2022.
The UK’s third biggest win came after an anonymous ticket-holder scooped the £177 million jackpot in the draw on November last year.
The biggest so far this year was £83 million which was won in January.
Tonight’s winner could end up richer than Adele with the £280 million figure topping the singer’s £184million ($250 million) net worth.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn said: “We are now on the verge of potentially creating the biggest National Lottery winner this country has ever seen – making a single UK winner instantly richer than the likes of Adele and Dua Lipa while also landing them at the number one spot on The National Lottery’s biggest wins list.”
It comes after no one was lucky enough to pick up the £199 million jackpot on Tuesday.

LEINSTER lock James Ryan insists the Blues are blocking out the noise ahead of Saturday’s URC semi-final against Glasgow.
The Ireland and Lions ace and says the squad has no time for outside opinions following last month’s European heartbreak.
James Ryan is not fussed about outside noise ahead of Leinster’s clash vs GlasgowLeinster face Glasgow tomorrow in a crucial semi-final clash in Dublin
The Ireland lock was speaking as Leo Cullen’s side gear up for another high-stakes clash, this time at home against reigning champions Glasgow Warriors at Aviva Stadium.
Leinster faced media and fan backlash after another year of European heartbreak after being heavily fancied to win the premier club rugby competion.
But Ryan insist the don’t care about the nay sayers as their primer focus in now firmly on the URC title.
Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s clash, Ryan was in no mood to speak about the past.
He stated: “We’re try to ignore it, you know what I mean. Everyone has an opinion now, and that’s just the way it is”
“For us, it comes back to ourselves. What matters most is what we think as players and coaches as how the games have gone.
“We’ve some of the best coaches in the world at this club. Ultimately we are our own harshest critics..I think.
“We’ve put our hands up – the performance wasn’t good enough – especially against Northampton. But we have to move on now, we’re into knockout rugby.
“Now it’s just about getting excited about this week, playing at home in a semi-final.
“If you told us in July that we’d have had a home semi, we’d have bitten your hand off. So, the guys are excited to get going again.”
Meanwhile, Lions duo Josh van der Flier and Hugo Keenan are absent for Leinster tomorrow.
But boss Leo Cullen insisted that both are okay for the Lions, and could resume training next week IF Leinster can secure a final date at Croke Park.
While full-back Hugo Keenan has a slight calf issue that flared up during the week.
And that meant both miss out and join fellow Lions’ Tadhg Furlong and Garry Ringrose (both calf) in the treatment room, though all four are expected to be fit soon.
