New £1billion cost of living voucher scheme revealed in Chancellors Spending Review – how to get help NOW
THOUSANDS of households will be able to access cost of living help through a new government scheme, the Chancellor has confirmed.
As part of her spending review today, Rachel Reeves announced that thousands of households will be able to apply for financial help through the Crisis and Resilience Fund.

The fund will be given £1billion a year and will replace the existing Household Support Fund, which is designed to help anyone who is vulnerable or cannot pay for essentials.
It will provide funding to councils to help some of the poorest households so that children do not go hungry outside of term time.
The cash is aimed at helping people who have been faced with a financial crisis and aims to reduce the need for families to use emergency food parcels.
The fund will also incorporate Discretionary Housing Payments, which provide financial support to help with rent or housing costs.
Anti-poverty charity The Trussell Trust has praised the move and said that the cost of living continues to be a challenge.
Last year the charity provided almost three million parcels to people facing hunger and hardship across the UK.
Helen Barnard, director of policy at the charity, said: “We warmly welcome the replacement of the Household Support Fund with a new multi-year Crisis and Resilience fund, which Trussell has been calling for.
“We know this helps prevent people facing short-term crisis from being pushed to having to turn to a food bank.”
But she warned that looming cuts to benefits for disabled people and carers will push many people into financial hardship.
The Spending Review also includes:
- A pledge to end the use of migrant hotels by the next election
- Confirmation that nine million pensioners will get the winter fuel allowance this year
- Free school meals for half a million more children
- An extra £39billion over the next decade for social housing
- A £15billion boost to transport to “properly connect” Britain’s towns and cities
- £22billion investment in research and development and £2billion in Artificial Intelligence
- A £30billion injection in clean energy including £14billion for nuclear energy
- A rise in departmental budgets by 2.3% a year totalling £190billion more than the Tories
- The Defence budget hiked to 2.6% of GDP by 2027
She said: “Disabled people and carers still face the looming threat of planned record cuts to social security support which will push 440,000 people into severe hardship and at risk of needing a food bank.
“Unless the government changes course, disabled people on the lowest incomes will certainly not feel this government is ‘on their side’.”
In March the Government announced that over one million Brits will have their disability benefits cut in a
In March the Government announced that over one million Brits will have their disability benefits cut in a £5billion cost-cutting reform.
Elsewhere, the Chancellor also announced that half a million more children will be eligible for free school meals.
Every child who lives in a Universal Credit household will now be eligible for state-sponsored lunches.
Previously, Universal Credit households needed to earn less than £7,400 a year to qualify.
The chancellor also vowed to pump £29billion into building more social and affordable housing across the UK.
What help is available now?
Household Support Fund
If you are struggling to pay your bills then you may be able to get help through the Household Support Fund.
Councils have been given a share of £742million from the Government to help their struggling residents.
Eligibility criteria varies depending on where you live but help is usually offered to those on benefits or a low income.
You need to apply to your council directly to get the help.
Several councils are currently offering support through the scheme.
Among them is North Somerset, where residents can apply for £100 worth of cash to help with the cost of living.
The fund will see more than £2.3million handed out to struggling families, pensioners and vulnerable residents across the region.
Hull residents can also apply for £200 worth of cash this summer.
The fund will be used to give eligible pensioners £200 to help them cover their costs after the Government slashed the Winter Fuel Payment last year.
Meanwhile, low income families will be eligible for a £40 school uniform grant, as well as food vouchers in school holidays for those with children who are eligible for free school meals.
Families in Richmond, London, can also apply for payments of up to £600 to help cover the cost of food, energy bills, clothes or other household essentials.
The exact amount you will get depends on the number of people in your household and if you have any children.
Free electricity and gadgets
Several energy suppliers are giving customers free gadgets to help them cut their energy bills.
Octopus Energy is handing out freebies including electric blankets to customers as part of its Octo Assist Fund.
The blankets could save customers up to £150 over winter.
Octopus customers can also borrow a thermal imaging camera to help them find places in their home where heat is escaping.
Once they have identified these draughts, they can look into ways to get them fixed, which can help to reduce their energy usage.
Meanwhile, EDF customers can get their hands on free energy-saving gadgets including air fryers, kettles and slow cookers.
EDF has also said it will replace poorly-working or broken appliances with energy-efficient ones.
Water bill hardship fund
Some water suppliers offer a hardship fund you can access if you fall behind on your water bill and owe more than a certain amount.
At Thames Water you can apply for the customer Assistance Fund if you owe it more than £120 and receive certain means-tested benefits.
The supplier will work with you to agree on an affordable monthly payment.
This will be based on your income and spending and the plan will stay in place for two years.
The payment will cover your current charges and paying towards your debt.
It does not impact your credit score.
Meanwhile, at United Utilities you can apply online for help if you are unable to pay your bill.
You can get help with water and/ or sewer charges and in certain situations you may be able to get white goods and beds.

Reality show crossover as UK fan-favourite is secretly dating Australian multi-millionaire TV icon after co-star split
THERE’S been a reality crossover as a UK fan-favourite star is secretly dating an Australian multi-million TV icon, after splitting from her co-star.
Ruby Adler joined the cast of Made In Chelsea back in 2020 as Reza Amiri-Garroussi‘s girlfriend.

Fans will know that the pair had a very rocky relationship, and the couple, who dated on-and-off for 10 years, called it quits for good in 2022.
Now, Ruby has moved on with another reality star – Australian real estate agent Gavin Rubinstein from Luxe Listings Sydney.
A source told The Sun: “They met a few months back and have been on a string of dates since – including a trip to LA where they watched the Lakers play.”
Ruby’s rep had no comment when approached by The Sun.
Gavin is a very successful real estate agent and is best known for the show he’s on, which made its debut on Amazon Prime in 2021.
The show sees Gavin, alongside other agents Simon Cohen and D’Leanne Lewis, trading some of the most exclusive properties in Sydney.
Recently, the real estate reality star made a big profit after selling his Sydney home for $8million.
Meanwhile, Ruby hasn’t had the best luck in love, after splitting from long-term boyfriend Reza, and then dating convicted drug dealer Nicholas Sinclair, after his release from prison last year.
Ruby and Nicholas ended their relationship, and on MIC, she broke down, saying she wishes “the best for him”.
Nicholas is now dating OnlyFans model Jemma Lucy, and they often share racy photos together.
It was also revealed that Ruby had a “secret fling” with All Stars winner Tom Clare, and the two were messaging just hours before he entered the Love Island villa back in January.
A source said at the time: “Tom and Ruby were seeing each other for several weeks before he went on Love Island All Stars.
“After Tom slid into her DMs, they met up in person and started dating, with Ruby often staying over at Tom’s place.”
Tom is now dating Molly Smith, with the pair winning Love Island All Stars last year.

Jilted husband punched cheating wife’s new lover after catching them in bed then ‘threatened to burn down marital home’
A JILTED husband punched his cheating wife’s new rugby player lover after catching them in bed together.
David Lukey was on a trial separation from wife Andrea when she started up a fling with burly Chris Andrews.

The 47-year-old, who had been living in a tent so Andrea could stay at home with their two kids, had entered the house to do his laundry when he caught the pair in bed.
Lukey pleaded guilty to assault after punching Chris in the face and was handed a community order.
But he was dragged back to Bournemouth Crown Court accused of threatening to destroy or damage property.
It came after he allegedly told his brother-in-law: “If Chris steps foot in my house again I will kill him and burn the house down and take the kids.”
Lukey has now been found not guilty of the charge following a trial.
He later lashed out at the Crown Prosecution Service for wasting taxpayer money and “dragging it all up” again.
Jurors heard the aerospace engineer and his wife had previously agreed to a trial separation after having marriage difficulties.
Lukey had been living in a tent for six weeks but was continuing to pay the mortgage and bills.
On September 20, 2023, he went to the family home in Blandford, Dorset, to do laundry when he found Andrea and Chris in a state of undress.
Lukey said: “The year began with discovering my wife was having an affair, by the end of the year I had lost my partner of 14 years, my house, my pets, and most heartbreakingly no longer lived with my children.
“I had moved into a tent six weeks earlier when Andrea asked me to move out for a trial separation.
“I returned to the house, believing it would be empty. I caught them in my house, in our marital bed, which destroyed me.
“I gave Chris the chance to leave, but Andrea stopped him and goaded me saying ‘this isn’t your house, this is my house, you have no right to be here’. This was a house I was still paying the mortgage and bills for.
“I tried to take my frustration out on objects not people, she continued to goad me. I said ‘if you don’t get out I’m going to punch Chris in the face’, so I did, I punched him.
“That night I was released from cells and was told Ian was my point of contact to see my children.”
He was then accused of making the chilling threat in a phonecall the next day to Andrea’s brother Ian Donegan.
Ian told the court he tried to “calm down the situation” and urged Lukey “not to do anything stupid”.
Lukey said: “When [the police] told me what the threats were, I was in total shock. This was a house I had put myself through hell to keep a roof over my kids’ heads.
“I accept if I have done something, I accept responsibility for my actions. That night was the worst night of my life, I couldn’t stop picturing what I had seen, by the next day I had a complete mental breakdown.
“I think if you put anyone who has been struggling so hard, living in a tent, and dropped them into that house they are paying for to find their wife in bed with another man, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say someone might punch that man.
“It was wrong and I have paid the price for it, but I’ve served my sentence.”

“It’s a hot girl summer. There’s no rules!”
Chloe laughs: “So you’re going to be shaking some a**?” to which Whitney replied: “As I should.”

Moment ‘predator’ accused of posing as Uber driver to attack woman is stopped by cops who found ‘rape kit’ in car
THIS is the moment a man who allegedly posed as an Uber driver to attack a woman was stopped by cops with a “rape” kit, a court heard.
Graham Head is accused of sexually assaulting the 25-year-old after offering her a free ride home in the early hours.

Jurors at Lewes Crown Court heard she managed to read the driver’s number plate after being attacked.
She then called 999 to report being assaulted by a man in latex gloves and a Covid mask who was the driver of a car with registration staring L21, it was said.
The court was told Head was a “sexual predator” who “slipped up” the night he was arrested.
In footage shown to jurors, police can be seen talking to Head, 68, after pulling him over in Brighton.
He is asked by the officers he had any interaction with a female in the minutes before he was stopped.
Head tells police through a blue face mask: “No, I haven’t.
“I’m going back to Pevensey.”
Officers tell Head his personalised registration matches a partial plate given by the woman minutes before.
He tells police: “Definitely not me, no.”
As he is speaking, police decide to search his car where they found latex gloves, viagra, condoms and a balaclava that allegedly formed a rape kit.
When asked why he had the condoms and viagra, Head said: “I’m a normal red blooded male”.
The court heard Head later changed his story and told police he had picked the woman up as she looked “worse for wear”.
He said: “I know I haven’t done it.
“If I took her to the correct address, that’s not kidnapping.
“I never said to her I was an Uber driver, I’ve never said that ever.
“I did not sexually assault that lady, I didn’t.”
Jurors heard police later found business cards advertising him as a “N-Uber driver” that were emblazoned with the slogan “Safe and Reliable – For All Occasions”.
Head is also accused of assaulting an 19-year-old woman he picked up near Hove Park.
The two attacks allegedly took place in the early hours of August 19 and November 18, 2022.
The 25-year-old woman has since died, the jury was told.
Head denies kidnapping, attempted rape and three sexual assaults.
The trial continues.

‘City-destroying’ nuclear missile unveiled by US after years of secret flights – it’s 10x deadlier than Hiroshima bomb
AMERICA’S military bosses have today showed off a city-destroying nuke after years of secret flights.
The AGM-181A Long-Range Standoff (LRSO) nuclear cruise missile can evade electronic jamming attacks and features stealth capabilities.

It will unleash thermonuclear warheads on enemies.
Military chiefs released an artist’s concept pic to give a glimpse of the AGM-181A Long-Range Standoff (LRSO) nuclear cruise missile.
It is being developed in answer to the rapid growth of China’s nuclear arsenal.
America’s next-generation nuclear cruise missile has a range exceeding 1,500 miles.
It is also expected to have an adjustable nuclear yield from five to 150 kilotons.
That’s a blast which is ten times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in August 1945.
By comparison, deadly Tomahawks have a range of 1,500 miles, and the intermediate-range cruise missiles are equipped with a 1000-pound conventional warhead.
The nuclear-armed cruise missile will arm America’s warfighter B-21 – part of the Air Force strategic bomber fleet – and its famous combat bomber, the B-52.
The United States has secretly been testing the new nuclear weapon for years.
Once operational in battle, it’ll be hard for the enemy to spot – and destroy – thanks to its “low-observable design” according to defense and security experts at 19FortyFive.
And the missile’s development is rapidly progressing ahead of schedule.
The AGM-181A will replace the 40-year-old AGM-86B Air-Launched Cruise Missile.
Air Force officials have confirmed that the nuke has already undergone a series of successful flight tests, and it is set for frontline service by 2030.
The weapon offers stealth characteristics, jet propulsion, a range exceeding 1,500 miles, and an adjustable nuclear yield from five to 150 kilotons.

But mystery remains, as few facts have been released about the LRSO’s capabilities – the program remains highly classified.
What is known – according to defense experts – is that it will be able to blast enemy targets well over 1,500 miles away.
It’s also expected to have subsonic missiles – which fly at a speed lesser than that of sound.
Plus it will have the ability to navigate in any tough environment.
TOP SECRET
“This highly secretive nuclear cruise missile is expected to offer a low-observable design meant to limit chances of intercept.
“The LRSO’s total range, top speed, and estimated radar return all remain classified,” said 1945.
The artist’s pic reveals a sleek, stealthy weapon designed to evade modern air defences.
The nuke’s high-tech features mean it’ll be perfect against electronic warfare, as it can be used when GPS jamming is carried out.
What are the features of the AGM-181A Long-Range Standoff (LRSO)?

An artist's rendering shows a first glimpse of the AGM-181A Long-Range Standoff (LRSO) nuclear cruise missile
What the nuke will offer the U.S. military:
- An adjustable nuclear yield between 5–150 kilotons, allowing uses ranging from tactical effect to destroying cities
- The ability to navigate in any environment
- Subsonic missile – flies at a speed lesser than that of sound
- Perfect for electronic warfare as they can be used where GPS jamming is carried out
- Will feature the updated W80-4 thermonuclear warhead – a type of nuclear warhead carried on air-launched cruise missiles
- Greater range than its predecessors – its stand-off range is expected to be more than (1,500 miles (2,500 km)
It’s pegged to replace America’s only nuclear-armed cruise missile in operation today, which has served since the start of the Cold War – and are becoming obselete.
Defense experts at The War Zone (TWZ) wrote, “LRSO is set to replace the AGM-86B Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM), which has served since the twilight of the Cold War.”
STEALTH MODE
Commenting on the first unclassified image, TWZ said the AGM-181A features an inverted tail.
It also noted, “The missile looks like it has a trapezoidal fuselage cross-section design with a wedge-like nose.
“We see no air inlet in the concept rendering, which could be for security reasons, considering the inlet design is often a closely guarded feature on stealthy flying machines – or it could be located on the top of the missile.”
BUILT IN U.S.
The experts warned, though, that the concept pic could well be inaccurate, as “some features will be omitted or even misleading for an initial public release.”
They described it as a “critical tool” for American’s nuclear triad – hoped to avert a “nuclear holocaust.”
It’s being built by major American aerospace and defense firm Raytheon, with production slated for 1,020 units, according to 1945.
The nukes will be carried by both the forthcoming £585 million B-21 Raider and upgraded B-52 Stratofortress bombers.
The AGM-181s are expected to replace the AGM-86B missiles by 2030, added TWZ, quoting a Pentagon acquisition report.
We stand here today closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before
The Pentagon’s 2022 acquisition estimates the program will cost $16 billion for 1,020 missiles.
And unit costs are currently projected to be around $14 million.
Interesting Engineering said the LRSO “arrives as the United States recalibrates its nuclear posture in response to rapid advances in Russian and Chinese strategic capabilities.
“With the aging Air-Launched Cruise Missile nearing obsolescence and no other nuclear cruise missile currently in service, the AGM-181A LRSO will fill a crucial gap in US deterrence strategy.”
WAR TURMOIL
Its development comes during one of the most violent periods since the end of the Second World War.
US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard warned on Tuesday, after a trip to Hiroshima, that “warmongers” were pushing the world to the brink of nuclear war.
She posted a video of grisly footage from the world’s first nuclear attack, and said, “A single nuclear weapon today could kill millions in just minutes.
“As we stand here today closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before, political elites and warmongers are carelessly fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers.”
These include ongoing threats from Iran, China, North Korea and Russia.
US TARGETS
Iran today threatened to target US military bases in the region if conflict breaks out.
Meanwhile, evil despot Vladimir Putin has his brutal ambitions set on invading Nato, warned Bruno Kahl, head of Berlin’s Federal Intelligence Service.
And just last October, the U.S. and its allies said they were “alarmed” by North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats.
An opinion piece in The Hill on the China threat starkly warned yesterday, “America needs to urgently prepare for war.”
It cited Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who said on May 31, “There’s no reason to sugarcoat it, the threat China poses is real. And it could be imminent.”
The Hill said, “The Chinese regime, which is mobilizing all of society for war, is now unstable. It is not clear who, if anyone, is in charge. Therefore, the regime could take us by surprise.
“Given all the turmoil in the Chinese military, America and its partners need to focus on more than just Taiwan. In fact, the main island of Taiwan might be the least likely target.”
