Watch emotional moment Sue Cleaver films final Coronation Street scenes as Eileen Grimshaw bids farewell

Having made her debut as loudmouth Eileen in 2000, her final scenes aired on Friday evening as she quit Weatherfield to move to Thailand alongside son Jason, played by Ryan.

Ryan made a special return to the show for a week of episodes after a 10-year absence in order to aid Sue’s exit.

Fellow actress Katy Cavanagh also reprised her role as Eileen’s sister Julie in the weeks leading up to her exit before being killed off.

Now, Ryan has taken to Instagram to share a video of the emotional moment that Sue wrapped on her final scenes inside the Grimshaw house.

In the clip, the crew behind the camera can be seen clapping Sue as she wrapped on her final take.

She embraced co-star Tony Maudsley, who played her now-ex George Shuttleworth,

Sue then hugged Ryan and fellow co-star Gareth Pierce before show boss Kate Brooks jumped in to deliver a speech.

Wheeling off a list of facts, Kate boomed: “Just to say, this wonderful woman has done 25 years on the street, 2444 episodes – which is a lot.

“I think there has been 15 slaps, nine of them as Jason and bust-ups with Gail so quite an eventful 25 years – three proposals!”

Looking rather unsure, Kate then added: “I think you are the only character to come to Coronation Street and stay at number 11.”

Ryan went on to pen his own, more heartfelt tribute over the top of the video, as he wrote: “it has been an honour to watch, act & learn alongside you one last time.

“Can’t wait to watch you shine in your next chapter.

“Love you always.”

The Sun exclusively revealed in January that she had quit the show after 25 years on the Salford set to look for new acting opportunities.

“The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly,” she explained.

One of Sue’s major next steps is to being a regular panellist on Loose Women after first appearing on the daytime panel show in 2023.

Sue took a break from Corrie last year to star in Sister Act The Musical as Mother Superior and appeared in reality show I’m A Celebrity in 2022.

Last year, Sue released her memoir A Work In Progress and revealed she was embracing being in her 60s.

James Gunn’s Suicide Squad Star Wants to Return to DCU Even If It’s for Another Role

While Suicide Squad (the 2016 version) did prove to derail the DCEU completely after the Dawn of Justice mishap, it did excel in the casting department, which is one thing the DCEU got right, for the most part at least. Although it’s either Margot Robbie’s Harley, the unofficial face of the DCEU, or Will Smith’s […]

RTE GAA pundits argue over who started halftime row as Cork eventually topple Limerick in Munster final epic

THE halftime whistle in the Munster final only served to add to the drama as both coaching staffs harangued the referee.

It took 94 energy-sapping minutes and a penalty shootout to eventually decide a winner as Cork ended Limerick’s six-year provincial reign.

Ref Thomas Walsh adopted a less is more approach when it came to blowing for fouls.

According to Joanne Cantwell he only blew for six fouls in the whole first half.

This led to both sides feeling aggrieved at times with the Cork fans especially vocal in expressing their frustration.

What was surprising though was that Rebels boss Pat Ryan did similar as he marched over to Walsh the second he blew it up.

His counterpart John Kiely and his staff spotted him doing so and raced out onto the centre of the pitch to cut him off from Walsh.

Tempers frayed as both sets of staffs mouthed off at one another before things did disperse after around 30 seconds.

RTE’s pundits dissected it before the second half got underway.

Initially Liam Sheedy outlined that Walsh had contributed to a massively entertaining spectacle in a sport that is too fast to nail every single call.

The ex-Tipperary boss emphasized: “It got very heated here as you can imagine. Looking back on the first half, I think Thomas Walsh did a great job.

“In a high-intensity match like this, it’s hard to get all the calls right.

“They got pulled on one end for a throw pass that ended up in Cian Lynch’s goal being disallowed.

“It was hard to see separation for Brian Hayes’s handpass and that one stood and ended up in the back of the net.”

Kilkenny icon Henry Shefflin then spoke for most observers with his analysis of who’d initiated the kerfuffle.

He said: “I thought Limerick were reacting to it, to be honest with you. They were saying ‘we can see he’s going for the referee’.

“In fairness the players are letting him alone, they’re hurling.”

When Donal Og Cusack’s turn came, he acknowledged he may well be viewing things through red-tinted glasses but maintained that he felt it was the other way round.

He reckoned: “I may sound biased now, but when we analyse that back again. I think it was the other way. I genuinely do.

“I’m telling you I do. It was Kiely and Kinnerk going out, and straight away Wayne Sherlock and Pat Ryan.

“Their focus was to say, ‘hold on a second here, he’s refereeing the game. Why are ye trying to referee it?’

“And I guess that can be seen as a biased point of view, but that was my view of it.”

It’s worth noting that when Walsh ultimately succumbed to a cramp in extra-time and had to be replaced by James Owens, he received a nice ovation from the Gaelic Grounds crowd.

Notts knife attack victim’s mum slams ‘shameful’ BBC for failing to apologise for chat with killer’s family

A NOTTINGHAM knife victim’s mum says it is “shameful” BBC’s Panorama has still not apologised ten months after airing interviews with the killer’s family.

Emma Webber told of her “unimaginable horror” at being given two weeks’ notice of the show.

The families were not offered the chance to contribute and said editors’ responses to complaints were “dismissive”.

The BBC’s complaints unit later said it would get a response within 35 days.

But six months on, the families have had nothing — so have gone to boss Tim Davie.

Emma said: “It’s exhausting, draining and shameful we have to escalate our concerns to the very top to get a response.”

The families complained that Panorama’s The Nottingham Attacks: A Search for Answers contained “serious inaccuracies and omissions”.

They also said the report — about Calocane’s NHS mental health treatment — was sympathetic to the killer’s family, who were featured.

The BBC yesterday apologised for the delay.

Calocane killed Emma’s student son Barnaby, his pal Grace O’Malley- Kumar plus school caretaker Ian Coates in 2023.

The schizophrenic got a hospital order for manslaughter by diminished responsibility.
