Every old-school WWE fan was hurt seeing Carlito leave WWE again. He had so much potential and aura that I still remember mimicking him in my bedroom. He might be one of the most underrated wrestlers in WWE history, as his iconic catch phrases and unique styles were used to be copied by fans across the country. But still, he never got the credit he deserved.
Despite winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship, the WWE United States Championship, and both the WWE Tag Team Championship and the World Tag Team Championship, he could never cement his place in the promotion. He has recently confirmed that he is officially a free agent and might never return to WWE.
Carlito confirms his journey with WWE has ended

Nobody wanted to see Carlito go; he’s one of those rare superstars with no haters. Fans have watched him grind his way to the top, earning every bit of his success. But despite his efforts, WWE never truly felt like home for him, and now, in his second stint with the company, he’s been released again.
Many hoped he’d make a comeback, just like R-Truth did, but Carlito recently took to Instagram to clear things up. He confirmed that WWE’s doors are officially closed for him and that he’s now a free agent. His post simply read “Back in Business” alongside a photo of an apple.
Carlito first joined WWE in 2003 but was released in 2010 after a solid seven-year run. He spent the next decade working the independent wrestling circuit, and just when fans thought they’d never see him in WWE again, he made a surprise return at the 2021 Royal Rumble.
After his comeback, he joined LWO and later turned heel to become part of Judgment Day. While there are plenty of reasons why Triple H might have decided to release him, his hefty paycheck could have been the biggest factor. Still, it would’ve been great if Triple H had given him the push that Vince McMahon never did.
What is the actual reason behind Triple H releasing Carlito?

There’s no official confirmation, but Carlito’s release might have been all about his hefty paycheck. The Puerto Rican star was making decent money, and with Triple H looking to cut costs, veteran contracts are either getting renewed at lower rates or not renewed at all.
That could also explain why R-Truth was let go, though he’s back now and might be working under a more modest contract.
Even Roman Reigns could see a contract adjustment, given his inconsistent appearances. Triple H seems to be shifting focus toward the new generation, possibly at the expense of longtime veterans. While some cost-cutting makes sense, legends like Carlito and Truth deserve more respect for their years of dedication and for helping WWE become the global powerhouse it is today.
It will be interesting to see if Carlito ever comes to the promotion again or if his WWE journey is officially over. No matter what, Carlito still has years of wrestling ahead of him and can try to end his career in any other prestigious wrestling promotion.
