Club World Cup to trial FIVE ‘trailblazing innovations’ as Fifa chief confirms ‘groundbreaking’ new rule changes

THE Club World Cup will trial five brand new rule changes when it kicks off later this month.

Fifa’s revamped tournament gets underway on June 15 and will see top clubs from around the globe face off for an elaborate trophy and mega prize money.

The tournament, which used to feature just six teams, has been expanded to 32 teams, spanning Europe, South America, North America, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

But it’s not just the tournament format that is going to look different, but also the way the games are officiated, after Fifa announced five “trailblazing innovations” to be used in the competition.

Football’s world governing body, and tournament organisers, have revealed that fans will get to see more of the referee’s decision making than ever before.

The first change announced is that referees will wear body cameras during matches, with the footage used during live match broadcasts.

While footage from referee monitor reviews (VAR) will be aired live inside the stadium – something Premier League fans have been asking to see for some time.

Fifa will also trial an “advanced” semi-automated offside technology using sensors inside the balls, in hopes of making further improvement on the tech already used in Uefa competitions like the Champions League.

A fourth change will be the use of AI to collect live match data, helping fans see even more stats and figures to dissect the match.

While the final innovation is that managers and coaching staff will be able to request their substitutions to the fourth official through a digital tablet, doing away with the old fashioned paper slips used at present.

He said: “Fifa has a proud history of breaking new ground at its elite tournaments, and the Fifa Club World Cup will continue that trend.

“With the best clubs competing for the title of world champions, it is fitting that these trailblazing innovations will be on display at such a prestigious tournament.”

The tournament will be broadcast for free on streaming service DAZN in the UK.

Fans can look forward to rare matchups between teams from different continents with clubs like Real Madrid, Flamengo, Man City, Chelsea and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami all involved.

We’re fighting to reclaim our seaside town from nudists openly having sex on beach… we’re fed-up of it being no-go zone

SEETHING residents continue to fume at nudists for turning their picturesque coastal town into a public sex hotspot.

Fuming locals hit out at beachgoers who get their kit off at Corton beach, near Lowestoft in Suffolk.

Now local MP Jess Asato has joined residents and councillors in a walk along the beach in a bid to reclaim the area for local children and holidaymakers.

The MP said: “Residents are fed up with their beach being made a no-go area due to criminal sexual behaviour.

“Our walk was a symbol of their efforts to ensure that no-one is feels afraid to use it – and send a signal that we will not tolerate what amounts to criminal acts.”

One local, a retired newspaper executive, added: “It’s no longer safe to take children there to play on their beach.

“It started about three years ago and has got worse every year since since – I was with my two and three-year-old grandchildren last summer and there were naked men deliberately showing off and flaunting themselves.

“It is so offensive that we can no longer take our grandchildren to play on the beach.

“Unfortunately the beach is now getting a reputation – and becoming famous – so the problem will only get worse.

“Apart from the holidaymakers here there are people who live her all the time and now in the summer they can’t go down to the sea.”

The Azure Seas village, which has more than 100 holiday and permanent cabins and homes which cost up to £200,000, is set in 15 acres of woodland on the cliffs overlooking the controversial beach and has its own direct access to the sea.

Sales manager Duncan Gooch said: ”It’s got nothing to do with nudity what so ever – it is the behaviour of some who go there, a group who think it is OK to indulge in lewd and sexual behaviour on the beach, openly in front of other people.

“It is blatant and deliberate – some are clearly exhibitionists and we take offence – as does everyone living or staying here – at their behaviour.

“Things have got worse over recent so year and are now so bad that a lot of people simply won’t go onto the beach because it is full of naked exhibitionists parading up and down and having sex.

“We have complained to the police and they say they will look into it.”

The parish council say they put up the sign after numerous complaints from local people about indecent behaviour on the beach, including individuals openly engaging in sexual acts and walkers being accosted.

A parish council spokesman said: “Businesses overlooking the beach have also been severely impacted, reporting substantial financial losses directly attributed to these behaviours.

“The parish council is obligated to support and protect the parishioners and businesses within its jurisdiction.

“This is our fundamental responsibility, and the sign was intended to serve as a warning that engaging in such acts would be reported to the police.

“This stance remains unchanged.“

A spokesman for the council said: ”The sign stated that the beach was not a naturist beach and was intended to clarify that it is no longer a designated as such since nudism can be practiced anywhere.

“The council recognises that nudism is a legal activity and was not attempting to prohibit, outlaw, or prevent naturists from enjoying the beach and we don’t intend to imply that naturists were responsible for this behaviour in any way.

“The sign was a warning to individuals whose lewd activities were causing distress to other beach-goers but we do not intend to imply or suggest that naturists were responsible for this behaviour in any way.”

District councillor Paul Ashdown added: “Most people are aware that sunbathing in the nude on the beach is not illegal but some residents have witnessed lewd behaviour which is offensive and should not be conducted in a public space.

“It would be good to discourage this sort of behaviour so I understand the purpose of the sign –  but I have no idea who might have taken it down.

“I have now asked the council leader asking for help to resolve this issue.”

An East Suffolk council spokesman said: ”We had requested removal of a sign placed without relevant permission on a signpost on East Suffolk Council land.

“The parish council has informed us that the sign had been removed without its knowledge over the weekend.”

Our picturesque seaside town is being ruined by NUDIST beach

By Emer Scully

A NUDIST beach has been slammed by locals who say perverts treat it like a porn set.

The picturesque Shellness, on the popular Isle of Sheppey in Kent, has been an “official” nudist beach since the 1970s.

Dozens of naturists flock to the sand dunes on sunny days to enjoy sunbathing and swimming without clothes.

Yet the area has more recently been plagued by “sad, middle-aged men getting up to no good”.

Stuart Haylock, 50, who lives near Maidstone, claimed he has seen “shocking” things over the last few weeks – as he put up a fence close to the beach.

The former Royal Navy serviceman said: “Sadly some parts of society seem to think that because it’s a naturist area it should be treated like a porn set.

“What I’ve witnessed in the past couple of weeks is sad, lonely middle-aged men getting up to no good.

“I’ve spoken with some of the actual naturists and they’re lovely people. What they’re trying to do is just sunbathe naked without any interaction with perverts.

“But I can only tell you what I’ve physically seen in the last few days. It’s shocking.”

Another man, who did not want to be named but lives close to the beach said he has called the police “a number of times”.

He said: “These perverts have been using the area for sex.

“There could be kids coming round here but they don’t care. Many of them don’t just stay for a few hours either, they park up in the nearby car park and stay for a week.

“The actual naturists themselves tend to be alright. They’ve put some signs up now as we did used to have a problem with them staying in their area, but now it’s okay.”

The Della Sante Dubai Chocolate Cream is set to hit all Lidl stores across the country on Thursday, June 12.

The tasty spread contains a blend of smooth chocolate, sweet cream, salty pistachio and crisp Kadayfi pastry for an added crunch.

It combines the flavours of the insanely popular Dubai chocolate but in spreadable form.

That means you can slather it on toast, pile it onto pancakes, dip fruit in it or even spoon it from the jar – the options are endless.

It will cost shoppers €3.49 per jar.

However, Lidl Ireland chiefs warned that the stock is limited as shoppers are urged to act swiftly if they want to try out their yummy treat.

It was reported that the supermarkets may be limiting purchases to three per customer, but this varies by store.

Earlier this year, Lidl Ireland launched their dupe of the Dubai-style chocolate bar.

The low cost supermarket teased their dupe bar on TikTok, urging shoppers to “run, don’t walk”.

Retailing at a bargain €4.99, the popular bar hit the shelves in supermarkets today.

The J.D. Gross Dubai-Style Chocolate comes in a 122g bar and is the cheapest dupe available from Irish supermarkets.

The luxurious treat, which has a green filling made from pistachio and a traditional Arab dessert called Knafeh, often comes with a hefty price tag, with single bars retailing online for €10 or more.

CUSTOMERS’ REVIEWS

Chocolate lovers took to the comments to rave about the discounted bar.

One person said: “I bought two in Lidl Cabra today. Nice, five euro a bar.”

However, some fans were unable to get their hands on the chocolate bars as they flew off the shelves.

One person said: “Sold out in twenty mins, couldn’t get one.”

Another said: “I went to Lidl today at 2:30 pm and was so disappointed that there was none left. I’m so sad and hungry for Dubai chocolate.”

One shopper said: “9:30am sold out here.”

Adam Azim’s fight CALLED OFF just hours before opening bell after rival Eliot Chavez’s ILLEGAL method to make weight

ADAM AZIM’s showdown with Eliot Chavez has been cancelled just hours before the walk-ons.

The pair were due to fight on the undercard of Callum Simpson’s European title fight in Barnsley tonight.

Azim’s bout has been cancelled after his opponent used a sauna to weight cut[/caption]

Azim, 22, boasts an unbeaten record and secured the IBO light-welterweight title in February.

He took Saturday’s fight at short notice after beating former world champion Sergey Lipinets.

But Chavez was left in hot water after it emerged he’d used a sauna to make weight.

Promoters Boxxer said in a statement: “The British Boxing Board of Control has withdrawn permission for Eliot Chavez to face Adam Azim tonight in Barnsley following concerns raised by the Mexican Boxing Commission relating to Chavez’s use of a sauna to make weight – a practice that is prohibited by the board.”

Azim immediately reacted on social media, posing an angry face emoji.

One fan sympathised: “Sorry to hear that champ. Was looking forward to it.”

While another said: “This is what happens when you fight someone on like a week or two notice.”

Chavez went nine rounds with Harlem Eubank in 2022.

And Azim was hoping to use the bout to show off his credentials in the division.

The 22-year-old declared he would fight anyone on a week’s notice – even two-weight world champ Devin Haney.

Azim, 22, told Sky Sports: “I would fight Haney next week. I just feel he’s more moving around and doesn’t want to initiate attacks.

“He is a top-level fighter but I don’t think he’s the same fighter that he was before.

“If he’s running on the backfoot, throwing one jab every two rounds, why not?

“For me I can fight front foot and back foot.

“Haney, I think he’s got enough power just to keep someone off, but I don’t think he has that one-punch power.

“But I think if I was going to fight him I think I’d beat him with speed.”

Tonight’s main event at Oakwell sees Simpson face Zucco for the European super-middleweight championship.

The pair are expected to ring walk in South Yorkshire around 9.30pm.
