MMA fighter who starred in Channel 4 show is facing jail for a second time – after previously throttling ex

A THUG MMA fighter who starred in a Channel 4 show is facing jail for a second time after previously attacking his ex.

Demornia Cantrill spoke about his upbringing in foster care on 2015 doc Kicked Out Kids.

He told the show: “I want to prove to everybody that says I’m just going to be a drug dealer or in prison – I want to prove them wrong and show that just because I had a s*** upbringing doesn’t mean I can’t change it.”

But Cantrill has now pleaded guilty to possessing class A diamorphone – a prescription only opiod – with intent to supply and possession of cannabis.

The 28-year-old is now facing a prison sentence when he returns to court in July for sentencing.

Cantrill was previously locked up in 2020 after he attacked his ex-girlfriend at her home.

Tyra Campbell was left fearing for her life when she was choked until she could barely breathe.

As she called 999, Cantrill chillingly told her: “Snitches get stitches”.

At time, he was subject to a community order over an attack on his own mum and an assault on police.

Cantrill was placed into care as a baby but left aged 17 to become a MMA fighter.

He also went into the army for two years and also worked as a teaching assistant.

In the latest hearing at Plymouth Crown Court, Judge Robert Linford said he recognised Cantrill’s name and remembered the TV programme about him.

Cantrill told him he is a member of a boxing club in Manchester that is trying to teach kids to deal with problems in a “fist fight rather than with knives and guns”.

He has been remanded into custody ahead of sentencing.

Severance and Step Brothers actor Adam Scott reenacted a famous Kardashians scene with his daughter, Francesca “Frankie” Scott.

Frankie, 16, shared a TikTok with her dad to her 17.1k followers with the caption: “Me informing my dad of my weekend plans.”

She lip-synced to the famous sound of Kim Kardashian explaining her “busy week” to her former brother-in-law Scott Disick.

Fans were left stunned as her famous father rarely makes an appearance on her social media posts.

But fans also can’t believe Adam is old enough to have a 16-year-old daughter.

TikTokers went into a frenzy, with one user commenting: “How is Adam Scott my age who also has a daughter that’s my age!”

Another added: “I’m shocked Adam Scott has a daughter this old.”

A third penned: “Adam Scott is old enough to have a baddie daughter? What!”

A fourth wrote: It appears that I’ve severely underestimated Adam Scott’s age.”

Adam has been married to TV producer Naomi Sablan since 2005, and the couple share two kids – 16-year-old daughter Frankie and 18-year-old son Graham.

Adam first shot to fame back in the ’90s with his breakout role as Griff in Boy Meets World.

But it was his stint in hit comedy Step Brothers and later as Ben Wyatt – Amy Poehler’s on-screen hubby in Parks and Recreation – that made him a household name.

He’s now swapped laughs for something much darker, starring in the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ thriller Severance, where he plays Mark Scout – a man trapped in a sinister workplace secret.

Severance follows employees at Lumon Industries, where they undergo a “severance” procedure, separating their work memories from their personal lives.

This premise allows for exploration of themes like identity, control and the human psyche.

The show’s narrative, with its blend of sci-fi, thriller, and workplace drama, has captivated audiences.

The series is a massive streaming phenomenon – breaking records, amassing billions of viewing minutes and cementing its position as Apple TV+’s biggest hit.

The ensemble cast also includes John Turturro, Britt Lower and Patricia Arquette.

The acclaimed drama scored a 96 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and has been renewed for third series.

It has built a strong and passionate fanbase with many claiming the series as “best show on TV and has a chance to be an all time great” on Reddit.

Another added: “It is definitely one of the best psychological sci fi thriller series ever created.”

A third penned: “It’s so good that I don’t see how it’s possible for season 2 to stay at this level, but we’ll see.”

Britain’s Bond-style ‘Q’ boffins unveil underwater drone to take on Putin’s cable-cutters…by blowing them to smithereens

BRITAIN’S top defence brainboxes have unveiled a Bond-style underwater drone designed to stop Putin’s cable-cutting saboteurs in their tracks.

The super sub can hunt out and destroy sabotage threats lurking on the seabed – by blowing them to smithereens.

Developed by the MoD’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), it is armed and ready to protect the UK’s vital undersea cables and pipelines.

Using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), Dstl’s boffins have added cutting-edge sensors, cameras, and explosive systems to high-tech underwater robot.

That way, operators are able to spot unexploded bombs, place charges remotely, and safely neutralise the threat — without risking Royal Navy divers.

John, a Dstl explosives engineer, said: “This technology would be a valuable toolset for keeping our Armed Forces safe whilst providing the public with value for money.

“This unique capability with its sensors, tools and cameras will give operators a real time ability to deal with these underwater hazards in a safe, effective and efficient way.”

The underwater drone goes deeper than any diver can, staying down for far longer and working tirelessly.

It can be launched from a ship or even a shoreline, sending back sonar and video feeds to operators who remain at a safe distance while disarming explosives or fending off hostile actions.

Crucially, it’s reusable. Once a threat is neutralised, the drone sub lives to dive another day – cutting costs while keeping seas safe.

The project is also a win for British industry, supporting specialist jobs through partnerships with firms like Alford Technologies, Atlantas Marine, Sonardyne and ECS Special Projects.

Trials have already taken place in Portsmouth’s Horsea Island, Portland Harbour, South Wales and as far afield as Norway.

The Royal Navy is now developing tactics and techniques to make full use of the new tech.

The Ministry of Defence hailed the innovation on social media, calling it a leap forward in protecting sailors and vital undersea cables.

The new underwater drone arrives amid warnings about Russian undersea activity in UK waters.

In April, it was revealed that Kremlin spy sensors had been found close to British territory — believed to be tracking the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines.

The sensors, reportedly deployed using Russian oligarchs’ luxury yachts, were discovered washed ashore and picked up by Navy minehunter ships.

Officials fear the covert operation could be part of a wider “greyzone” campaign to gather intelligence and target undersea infrastructure.

Royal Navy and RAF assets were scrambled last November when the suspected Russian spy ship Yantar was seen “lurking around pipelines and internet cables” in the Irish Sea.

Around the same time, RAF fighter jets intercepted a Russian warplane over the North Sea, and unmanned Russian underwater vehicles were also detected near communication cables.

One senior source told The Sunday Times:  “It’s a bit like the space race. This is a world clouded in secrecy and subterfuge… but there’s enough smoke to suggest something is on fire somewhere.”

In March, HMS Cattistock and a Wildcat helicopter were sent to monitor the Admiral Vladimirskiy, a so-called research ship revealed in 2023 to be a spy vessel suspected of probing Britain’s power supply and internet links.

HMS Somerset and other Royal Navy units were also deployed multiple times to escort Russian vessels including a beach landing ship returning from the Mediterranean.

At least 11 internet cables in the Baltic Sea have been damaged in the past 15 months — some suspected to have been dragged by Russian ships — while surface vessels like the Admiral Vladimirskiy have continued probing waters near the UK.

In response, military chiefs are drawing up Operation Atlantic Bastion — a sweeping new patrol mission using air, land and sea forces to defend UK and Nato interests in the North Atlantic.

What is the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory?

THE Defence Science and Technology Laboratory — better known as Dstl — is the UK government’s secretive hub of military innovation.

Based at Porton Down in Wiltshire, it’s packed with some of Britain’s brightest scientific minds, often likened to James Bond’s Q Branch.

Part of the Ministry of Defence, Dstl works behind the scenes to give UK Armed Forces a cutting-edge advantage.

From cyber warfare and AI to battlefield tech and bio-defence, it develops, tests and fine-tunes everything that keeps British troops one step ahead.

Dstl collaborates with industry, universities and international partners, but much of its work remains classified.

Its projects aren’t just for warfighting — they’re designed to save lives, protect national infrastructure, and deliver tech that punches well above its weight on the world stage.

The 52p herb that could help prevent Alzheimer’s – plus 3 other ways it can benefit your health

KNOWN for its strong, pine-like flavour and its use in various dishes, rosemary has a lot more going for it than its scent and taste.

The popular herb is starting to gain recognition for its impressive health benefits, especially when it comes to brain health, inflammation and immune function.

Rosemary has been shown to benefit the brain in several ways[/caption]

And research published this year suggests it could even help in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease – the leading cause of dementia worldwide.

Rosemary has previously been linked to memory and mental clarity.

In ancient Greece and Rome, students and scholars used rosemary to sharpen concentration and recall, says Dipa Kamdar, senior lecturer in pharmacy practice at Kingston University.

Writing for The Conversation, she explains: “Modern science is finding there may have been something in this: in one study, people who inhaled rosemary’s scent performed better on memory takes compared to those in an unscented environment.”

There are several ways rosemary benefits the brain, says Kamdar.

Firstly, it stimulates blood circulation, including to the brain, helping deliver more oxygen and nutrients, which may improve mental clarity.

It also has calming properties, with some studies suggesting its aroma can reduce anxiety and improve sleep – lower stress means better focus and memory retention.

Kamdar adds: “Rosemary contains compounds that interact with the brain’s neurotransmitters. One such compound, 1,8-cineole, helps prevent the breakdown of acetylcholine, a brain chemical essential for learning and memory. By preserving acetylcholine, rosemary may help support cognitive performance, especially as we age.

And rosemary’s antioxidants may also help protect brain cells from damage caused by oxidative stress – which is a major factor in cognitive decline.

Kamdar says: ” Rosemary is rich in phytochemicals, plant compounds with health-enhancing effects. One of the most powerful is carnosic acid, an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent that helps shield brain cells from harm, particularly from the kinds of damage linked to Alzheimer’s disease.

What are rosemary’s benefits beyond brain health?

Rosemary may aid digestion by stimulating the liver to produce bile[/caption]

As well as boosting brain health, studies suggest rosemary may aid digestion by stimulating the liver to produce bile, which helps the body digest fat.

In a study with mice, it was shown to reduce inflammation in the digestive tract, potentially aiding in the management of IBS and other inflammatory bowel ailments.

And rosemary supplementation may also positively impact the gut microbiota, increasing beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacterium and Bacteroidetes, while reducing harmful bacteria like Escherichia coli.

Rosemary may also be able to improve immune function.

Some studies, particularly in vitro and animal models, suggest that rosemary and its active compounds, like carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid, can influence immune function.

Other studies have shown rosemary may promote immune cell activity, such as increasing antibody production or enhancing the activity of immune cells like dendritic cells.

Finally, rosemary could prevent certain cancers.

Rosemary has been proven to display powerful anticancer efficacy in numerous cancers, including lung, prostate, liver, and breast.

Carnosic acid appears to be the plant’s primary anticancer component, as it was found in one study to exhibit antiproliferative effects in cancer cells.

Other ways to reduce your Alzheimer's risk

Be physically active

Regular physical activity is crucial for overall health and may help reduce the risk of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week.

Eat a healthy diet

A balanced diet, potentially including the Mediterranean diet, can help reduce your risk of dementia, as well as other health conditions.

Stay mentally active

Keeping your mind active can strengthen your brain’s ability to cope with disease. Engage in activities like reading, learning new skills, or playing brain games.

Manage other health conditions

Maintaining healthy blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels can also contribute to reducing your risk of dementia.

Prioritise sleep

Aim for seven to eight hours of quality sleep each night, as sleep deprivation can negatively impact brain health.

Maintain good heart health

Taking care of your heart health, including avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, can also lower your risk of dementia and other diseases.

Seek medical advice

If you have any concerns about your health or a family history of Alzheimer’s, consult with a healthcare professional.

Holiday hotspot loved by Brits introduces new ban with £630 fines for rule-breakers

BRIT holidaymakers could face eyewatering fines for seemingly innocent purchases under new rules in a popular tourist spot.

New fines brought in at a sunny destination have prompted warnings to tourists to be careful when buying souvenirs.

With the summer holidays fast approaching, many families will be dreaming of setting off for a well earned break in the sun.

But one ever-popular location has brought in new rules against unauthorised street vendors.

Unsuspecting tourists are warned not to buy things from street vendors in Palma, the capital of the Spanish island Majorca.

It may be tempting to pick up a quick snack or refreshment from conveniently placed street vendors.

But tourists who break the new rules risk being hit with a mammoth fine.

Under the regulations, people who are caught buying from rogue street salespeople could face penalties of up to €750 (£630).

The ban applies to the purchase of anything from food and drinks to souvenirs and watches.

Danny Toffel, CEO and founder of online retailer Watches2U, told Euro Weekly News: “When travelling abroad, it’s always worth reading up on local rules.

“These measures have been implemented to safeguard Palma’s culture and economy and, in some instances, for public safety.

“Purchasing from unauthorised street vendors might appear a harmless way to snag a bargain, but they can undermine local, legitimate businesses.”

Tourists in the popular holiday spot are instead advised to buy from reputable, legitimate businesses instead of street vendors.

Toffel added: “Illegal street vendors may also peddle counterfeit goods, which again may not seem like a significant issue to many, but violate intellectual property rules and divert money away from legitimate businesses.”

These new laws are understood to be related to concerns from residents about overtourism.

Holidaymakers in Majorca should also be aware of new regulations around electric scooters.

Riders now have to prove they have civil liability insurance and have to wear a helmet.

Fresh penalties on graffiti have also been unveiled, with rule-breakers to get handed a €3,000 fine.

There are also penalties against nudism – whether it be total or partial – of up to €750.

Tourists are ultimately advised to make sure they read up on the local rules and customs of wherever they travel to.

A document explaining the new regulations says the rules are in place to “prevent inappropriate everyday actions” and “address incivility in general.”
