EVERTON have offered Seamus Coleman a new contract.
The Republic of Ireland legend, 36, looks set to stay on Merseyside ahead of the Blues’ move into their brand new stadium.
The full-back has been offered a new deal, as has teammate Idrissa Gana Gueye, while the club are in discussions with representatives of Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Coleman’s current Everton deal was set to expire at the end of June, with manager David Moyes having vowed to keep him.
Speaking back in May, the ex-Manchester United gaffer declared: “Séamus will stay next season, without doubt. Séamus will be part of the group. I need him here.
“His leadership, the message he has here amongst the dressing room and between the players is so strong, it’d be wrong of me to let him go.
“One way or the other, Séamus will be here next season.
“Séamus is actually a little bit more than being a player here. He’s going into a position where he’s helped the club through some of the most difficult periods.
“He’s never been to another club, we put him out on loan at Blackpool when he first came but other than that he’s been here and he’s played the games.”
Coleman arrived from Sligo Rovers in a bargain £60,000 deal in 2009 and, after a spell on loan at Blackpool who he helped to promotion, became an Everton star.
He also forced his way into the Ireland squad and has been captain since 2016, though injuries have kept him out of squads this season.
Despite those recent fitness issues, club and international teammate Jake O’Brien stressed the importance of Everton keeping hold of him.
O’Brien said: “He’s a huge part of the club at Everton, everyone knows that.
“He’s highly respected at the club.
“What he’s going to do next, I don’t know.
“He can do what he wants.
“If he wants to be a coach or a player, either one he wants to be but I think it’s important we keep him at the club, he’s at the heart of everything.”
Coleman – who turns 37 in October – was in joint caretaker charge with Leighton Baines in January, following the sacking of Sean Dyche.
They were at the helm for one match, against Peterborough United in the FA Cup, in which O’Brien made his first start since a League Cup tie earlier.
And O’Brien said: “He was only caretaker manager for a week or so but it was great.
“He’s like that all the time, always driving standards in training. He was no different as caretaker that week.
“He is always driving standards.”
THIS is the shocking moment a McDonald’s worker sparks a mass brawl after slapping a hooded youth across his head.
Horrified customers stepped back in fear as several yobs barged their way into the restaurant in Dalston, east London, before attacking the staff member.
The chaos started when the group of youngsters were asked to leave the store by staff.
Footage on social media shows the thugs attempting to force their way into the restaurant by pulling the automatic doors open.
They eventually manage to wedge open the entrance, allowing one of their friends to enter the shop.
He starts to confront one of the workers and gestures at him before knocking his hat off his head, sending it flying across the restaurant.
The McDonald’s staff member retaliates by slapping the teenager across his face and dragging him further inside.
Screams from onlookers can be heard as the rest of his pals storm into the restaurant, shouting and aggressively charging towards the worker.
Filming the ordeal, one girl caught in the crossfire begs onlooking personnel to let her and her friend leave the store.
The pair had been trapped in while staff prevented the gang from re-entering.
McDonald’s confirmed that police had been called in following the brawl, which occurred after the “disruptive” group were asked to leave.
A spokesperson for the US food giant said: “We are aware of the incident involving anti-social behaviour from a group of customers that has been circulating on social media.
“The group were asked to leave the restaurant as they were being disruptive and rude to our people and other customers but forced their way back inside.
“The police were called, and we are supporting them with their enquiries.
“At McDonald’s, we have a zero-tolerance policy for anti-social behaviour, and we expect our staff to be treated with respect and decency at all times.
“We are also reminding our restaurant team of the correct procedures for handling this type of behaviour.”
It comes amid rising anti-social behaviour in the hospitality and retail sector across the country.
A Sun investigation in April revealed the shocking scale of shoplifting at Greggs branches in the UK.
Our reporters watched as brazen thieves targeted certain stores several times every hour.
In one incident, when a shoplifter was confronted, he simply gave the worker a fist bump before strolling out.
When Sakamoto Days anime proved to be a letdown in terms of animation, fans still had the lively panels of the manga to go back to. Seemingly, we don’t even have that luxury anymore. The story was the perfect mix of great fights and light-hearted interactions initially. The characters are also interesting, and some of […]
