The next instalment in the Alien franchise, Alien: Earth, is all set to make its debut on Hulu. Created by Noah Hawley, the series follows a group of synthetic beings who are tasked with exploring a crashed space vessel, which houses several different life forms, including the Xenomorph. The show stars Timothy Olyphant, Sydney Chandler, and Alex Lawther.
The Alien franchise recently got a much-needed revival with last year’s Alien: Romulus, and with Fargo’s Noah Hawley at the helm of Earth, it is bound to get better. The recently released trailer revealed several Easter Eggs related to the franchise. One moment in particular could have possible ties to the upcoming Predator film Badlands.
How does the Alien: Earth trailer hint at a connection with Predator: Badlands?

The Alien franchise has seen many highs and lows. The films have some of the best directors involved behind the scenes, with the first one helmed by Ridley Scott, the second by James Cameron, and the third by David Fincher. But, since Resurrection, the movies have veered into B-movie territory, with the latest Romulus only being the saving grace.
Surprisingly, the Alien franchise has been in a crossover with the Predator series of films. Two movies have been made in the Alien vs Predator series, though neither has been as successful as their flagship movie. Since Alien vs Predator: Requiem, there has been no direct crossover, but that might change soon.

In the recently released trailer for FX’s Alien: Earth, the sound design gives a small hint as to a potential crossover with the upcoming movie Predator: Badlands. At 0:54 in the trailer of the movie, fans can hear a clicking sound that matches the iconic sounds of the Predator. It might be a small Easter Egg for an upcoming crossover.
Other clues in the series include the mention of five different life forms found in the ship that crashed onto Earth. While the Xenomorph is one of the species found, one of the other forms could be the Predator. What seals the deal about the crossover is that the word ‘predator’ is used by one of the characters in the trailer.
Predator: Badlands has a connection to Alien: Earth as well

The Predator movies have also seen a similar trajectory as the Alien franchise, though not as many prestigious directors have been attached to the franchise. While the first movie had Arnold Schwarzenegger and LeVar Burton in lead roles, the subsequent movies ditched the Terminator star and veered into severe B-movie territory.
However, 2022’s Prey gave the franchise a new direction that leaned into a folk horror-esque treatment rather than being an action movie. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the prequel was set in the 1700s and explored events preceding the original movie. Trachtenberg will now return to the franchise with the upcoming film Predator: Badlands.
While Badlands positions the Predator as the protagonist and gives it an origin story of sorts, it still has a human-ish character in the form of Elle Fanning’s Thia. The trailer hints at the Predator’s own tribe and his fight with his own kin as he navigates its rituals and traditions. It also shows him having a connection with Thia.
According to sources, Thia is reportedly an android from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, which is part of the Alien franchise. The corporation manufactures synthetic androids, which will be leading the Alien: Earth series. The fact that the corporation has been name-dropped makes the crossover all the more likely.
Alien: Earth premieres on Hulu on August 12, 2025, while Predator: Badlands is releasing in cinemas on November 7, 2025.
