- A Tshwane University of Technology lecturer has been killed in an alleged mob justice attack near the Soshanguve campus.
- Community members reportedly accused him of raping two children before assaulting him.
- Gauteng police have opened a murder investigation and urged residents not to take the law into their own hands.
A part-time lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has been killed near the institution’s Soshanguve campus following allegations linking him to the rape of two children.
The lecturer was allegedly attacked by community members who accused him of being involved in the alleged crimes.
According to eyewitnesses, he was forcibly removed from his home and assaulted in the street.
Gauteng Police Service have opened a murder investigation. No arrests have been made at this stage.
The identities and ages of the two children have not been disclosed, neither confirmed by Gauteng polie.
Police have called on community members to allow the justice system to take its course and to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
