CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — Three individuals were arrested in two separate operations conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Nueva Ecija as part of intensified efforts against illegal firearms under “Oplan Paglalansag Omega.”
CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod said the operations resulted in the confiscation of several firearms, ammunition, and related equipment, and the filing of criminal complaints for violations of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Gollod said two suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Purok 6, Bgy. Sta. Lucia Young in Zaragoza town.
Authorities identified the suspects as alias “Cruz,” 40, of Bgy. Sapang Maragul, Tarlac City, and alias “Yalung,” 31, of Bgy. San Isidro, also in Tarlac City.
The operation was led by the CIDG Nueva Ecija Provincial Field Unit (PFU), with support from the Zaragoza police.
Confiscated were an Akkar Altay Taktik 12-gauge shotgun, a rice sack, an Android cellular phone, and the buy-bust and boodle money.
Meanwhile a search warrant served in Aliaga on the same day led to the arrest of another suspect in Bgy. Poblacion East II.
The suspect was identified as alias “Rillo,” 43, of the same barangay.
Gollod said joint operatives from the CIDG Nueva Ecija PFU and personnel from the Philippine National Police Special Action Force implemented the search warrant and seized from the suspect a 9mm pistol without brand name or serial number, a magazine assembly for a 9mm firearm, six rounds of live 9mm ammunition, a sling bag, a gun case, a magazine assembly for a cal. .45 firearm, and empty shells for cal. .45.
All arrested suspects will be charged with violation of Section 28 of RA 10591.
