AROUND 800 low-income employees of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños and informal settler families pf the town are targetted to benefit from the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino 4PH-UPLB housing project.
Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and UPLB Chancellor Jose Camacho Jr., along with other officials, launched on Thursday the Expanded (4PH) UP- LB Rental Housing Project.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s flagship Expanded (4PH) Program is ending the 45-year wait for a housing project to return inside the UPLB.
Camacho noted that the last housing project at the UPLB, implemented during the time of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., was back in the 1980s that benefitted faculty members.
He said the expeditious fruition of the UPLB rental housing project with DHSUD under the Expanded 4PH Program was launched exactly two months after the initial meeting last December 19.
The project, the 5th rental housing under the flagship Expanded 4PH, aims to initially build two five-storey buildings in Paciano Rizal, Bay, Laguna. It is strategically located along a main road in front of the UP Rural High School Campus.
Aliling, joined by Senior Undersecretary Eduardo Robles Jr. and other DHSUD officials, branded the project as another proof of the sustained rollout of the Expanded 4PH.
The DHSUD chief also assured UPLB management of DHSUD’s all-out support to its housing initiatives for the benefit of UP constituents and ISFs in Los Baños.
“Hangad namin na sa mga susunod na linggo ay masisimulan na natin and proyektong ito bilang pagtupad sa ating ipinangako nitong Disyembre,” said Aliling.
“Kami ay nagagalak na kami’y naging bahagi sa milestone na ito with UPLB, at makaambag sa inyong housing initiatives,” he added.
