Milo Marathon to hold 15 races starting March 1

AS part of its golden anniversary, Milo Marathon will hold 15 races all over the country starting March 1 at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.

Milo Sports head John Carlo Sampan said the event will serve as a milestone for both Milo Philippines, which celebrates its 62nd year in the country, and Milo Marathon, which marks its 50th year.

“It’s a golden milestone for Milo Philippines and Milo Marathon. It’s 50 years of celebrating marathon champions and their champion stories,” said Sampan during the media launch at the Citadines Hotel in Manila Bay

“Actually, Nestlé Philippines has been in the country for 62 years but the Milo Marathon will be celebrating it’s 50th year since it was held in 1974,”added Sampan

Six-time champion Roy Vence, four-time titlist Alan Ballester, and two-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist and national 10km record holder Christabel Martes graced the activity, highlighting the strong presence of elite Philippine distance runners.

Also attending the press conference were reigning champions Richard Salaño, Christine Hallasgo, and Edward Flores, who shared their insights and expressed readiness to defend their respective titles.

At stake for this year’s winners is more than national glory, as champions will earn the coveted opportunity to represent the country in the prestigious Sydney Marathon in 2027, one of the world’s premier long-distance races.

As part of its commitment to strengthening grassroots development, Milo Philippines, in partnership with the Department of Education and various local government units, will roll out the Champs Run. A nationwide initiative designed to introduce elementary-level students to competitive running and promote an active lifestyle among the youth.

The qualifying legs will be staged across key cities, including Pasay, Naga, Sorsogon, Davao, General Santos, Dipolog, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Tagbilaran, Dumaguete, and Bacolod, as well as key running hubs such as Vermosa, Subic.

The top young runners from these regional races will advance to the National Finals set at Clark, where the country’s most promising student-athletes will compete for national honors.
