House declares Dec. 12 of every year as Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe Day

VOTING 214 against zero and three abstentions, the House of Representatives on Wednesday approved on third and final reading a bill declaring December 12 of every year as Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe Day.

The authors of House Bill (HB) No. 7303 are Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III, House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander A. Marcos, Bukidnon Rep. Audrey Kay Zubiri, and Tarlac Rep. Noel Rivera.

The bill provides that December 12 would be a “special working holiday.”

Marcos said the proposed law would allow Filipinos to celebrate the feast of the Miraculous Lady of Guadalupe.

“She is known as a champion of the oppressed and the patron saint of the unborn. She is also a symbol of unity and social justice,” Marcos said.
