WesMin cops jail 204 wanted persons

A TOTAL of 204 fugitives from the law in Zamboanga Peninsula were hauled to jail by agents of the Police Regional Office 9 from January 1 to 31 this year, 57 of them tagged as Most Wanted Persons in the region, Police Regional Office 9 director Brig. Gen. Edwin A. Quilates said yesterday.

The official said the arrests of the suspects, majority of them facing non-bailable criinal charges, were the result of coordinated operations across Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, and the province of Sulu.

The captured lawbreakers were wanted for their involvement in heinous crimes, including murder, homicide, rape, theft and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He added that the successful manhunt operations were made thru close coordination between local police units, national support agencies, and valuable intelligence provided by vigilant citizens.

“These accomplishments underscore the unwavering commitment of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to uphold the law and ensure public safety. The successful operations were made possible through the dedicated efforts of operating units of PRO 9, in collaboration with local police offices, national support agencies, and with the vital cooperation of the community,” Quilates said.

The PRO9 director added that the successful manhunt operations in Region 9 are aligned with the directives of Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., who has consistently underscored the organization’s unwavering commitment to addressing major threats.
