SINABI ni Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson na dapat bigyan ng pagkakataon sina Sens. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa at Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go na subukan lahat ng legal remedies sa harap ng napipintong kasong sasagupain sa International Criminal Court.
Ayon kay Lacson, dapat irespeto ang mga Philippine courts pati ang due process ng bansa laban sa anumang course of action na gagawin ng ICC.
Ang dalawa, kasama ang 6 na iba, idineklarang co-perpetrators ni former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.
“I think they should have the chance to avail of all legal options, because our local courts and processes must be respected.
If there is an arrest warrant from the ICC or a foreign court, it should go through our local court, which will issue a corresponding order to implement the foreign entity’s arrest warrant,” sabi ni Lacson.
Idinagdag niya na pag-uusapan nila sa Senado ang mga dapat gawin para alalayan ang dalawa nilang kasama.
Ayon kay Lacson, magpapatawag na ng caucus si Senate President Vicente Sotto III para konsultahin ang mga senador.
“The Senate’s lawyers will study possible courses of action to take, given the circumstances. On the part of the senators, we’ll discuss the matter, if the senators decide to extend help. We’ll cross the bridge when we get there,” dagdag ni Sen. Lacson.
