JUDIEL Nitura shone in Letran’s 26-24, 25-22, 25-17 conquest of San Sebastian to stretch its perfect run to seven matches in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the San Andres Sports Complex.

Nitura delivered 19 points as the Lady Knights solidified their hold of the Group A lead. Letran is trying to fend off San Beda’s challenge as the No. 1 team in their pool.

“Dapat ma-elevate pa. Hindi pa natatapos,” Nitura said, when asked about raising in the team’s level of play as the eliminations reaches the mid-point.

The Lady Stags stumbled to their sixth loss in eight matches.

Earlier, Mapua beat Emilio Aguinaldo College, 23-25, 25-17, 26-28, 23-25, to end a three-match skid.

Rookie Alex Leabres came alive for the Lady Cardinals with 22 points and eight digs while Raissa Ricablanca added 15 points.

Mapua coach Aying Esteban was relieved after getting over the hump.

“Masaya sa pakiramdam kasi nawawalan ng kumpiyansa mga players namin sa nangyayari sa team ngayon,” Esteban said.

The Lady Cardinals improved to 3-4 overall, while sending the Lady Generals skidding to an eighth straight defeat.

In the men’s division, EAC continued its winning ways with a 25-16, 25-22, 25-20 sweep of Mapua to raise its Group B record to 6-2.
