The telenovela that had Mzansi high on emotions every day has finally wrapped up its first season, with a bittersweet ending.

For Lunathi Mampofu, who portrays Zoleka Bikitsha, and Loyiso Macdonald, who portrays Lazarus Ngcukana’s fans, it was definitely a heartwarming and emotional ending. The pair finally decided to tie the knot.

LaZo was Mzansi’s favourite couple, who never wanted to rush into marriage but have always wanted to build a life together.

Their engagement on the final episode of the first season left viewers excited and expressing their love on social media.

The final episode of Inimba aired just a day before Valentine’s Day, 13 February 2026, and showed the different dynamics of love. From romantic relationships, the love people share with their colleagues, and finally the love only reserved for yourself, when you finally let go of things that don’t serve you.

Zenande Mfenyana, who plays Limise Thumeka Mabandla, left her husband Hlathi Mabandla, real name Sisa Hewana. Many say she finally realised that she would never be happy in her marriage.

And finally, Miss 20 years, Qhawekazi Mabandla, real name Ayakha Ntunja, ended things with both her men, telling them she’s not in a space to pursue a romantic relationship but they can all remain friends.

The soapie has captured the hearts of many viewers across South Africa since its premiere in April 2025 and has topped social media trends.

DStv channel Mzansi Magic has announced the renewal of the telenovela for season 2, which will air on 2 March 2026.

Inimba getting renewed for season 2 comes as no surprise after season 1 was extended by 90 episodes.

The drama also won recognition at the 2025 National Film and Television Awards (NFTA) for Best Actress in a Television Drama Award, clinched by Zenande Mfenyana.
