The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released its official social grant payment schedule for the 2026/27 financial year, giving millions of beneficiaries clarity on when to expect their monthly payments.
The agency said the schedule follows approval by the National Treasury.
How payment dates are set
SASSA said payments are generally structured to ensure beneficiaries receive funds as early in the month as possible, while being staggered over three days.
Typically:
- Older persons: 2nd of the month
- Disability grants: 3rd
- Children’s grants: 4th
However, several factors influence final dates, including:
- Avoiding payments immediately after public holidays
- Not scheduling payments on the 1st or on Mondays
- Ensuring dates do not fall on weekends
If a payment date coincides with a weekend or public holiday, it is moved to the next working day.
Grant increases from April
Following the national budget announcement, social grants will increase from April 2026:
- Old age grant: increases from R2 320 to R2 400
- War veterans grant: increases from R2 340 to R2 420
- Disability grant: increases from R2 320 to R2 400
- Foster care grant: increases from R1 250 to R1 290
- Care dependency grant: increases from R2 320 to R2 400
- Child support grant: increases from R560 to R580
- Grant-in-aid: increases from R560 to R580
- SRD R370 grant: remains at R370
Support for beneficiaries
SASSA reiterated its commitment to ensuring timely payments and urged beneficiaries who experience delays to visit their nearest office for assistance.
The updated schedule and grant increases form part of government efforts to provide financial support to vulnerable households while maintaining stability in the national payment system.
