Known for his outspoken and no-nonsense demeanor, Kevin O’Leary is once again making waves – this time in the political arena. While in the past he has been quite supportive of Donald Trump and his work, it looks like this time he’s Team Elon Musk. In a recent interview, the Shark Tank judge was seen strongly supporting Musk while slamming a new bill backed by the current President of America.
His reasoning? Well, he feels that the bill unfairly targets small businesses and could damage the entrepreneurial ecosystem. As usual, his remarks have quickly stirred up conversation across political circles. Let’s dive deeper!
Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary joins Elon Musk to criticize Donald Trump’s controversial bill
Kevin O’Leary is not one to hold back his opinions. The same happened recently as well, when the Shark Tank judge and seasoned investor joined forces with Elon Musk in speaking out against President Donald Trump‘s controversial “Big Beautiful Bill.”
While O’Leary has often supported Trump’s economic policies in the past, this time, he’s sounding the alarm and calling one part of the bill a major threat to small businesses.

As per a video shared by Kevin O’Leary TV on Instagram, the Shark Tank judge explained why the bill is raising eyebrows.
One of his biggest issues is a hidden clause that allows the IRS to audit small businesses for up to nine years. Why? Just because they accepted government help during the pandemic. So, according to O’Leary, that’s not just unfair, it’s also dangerous for entrepreneurs who are already struggling. He also added:
This is really punitive and I’ve gone to war against it and I haven’t found a senator yet, not a Republican anyways, that wants to extend powers to the IRS to audit small business for nine years, which is ludicrous.
He then also pointed out a deeper financial concern and added that America’s rising post-pandemic deficits are unsustainable, and this bill only makes things worse. And just like Elon Musk, he also added that it’s time for lawmakers to take responsibility and work towards a more balanced budget.
On the same matter, Musk has called on Americans to push back against the bill. Moreover, he has warned that it could bankrupt the country and undo years of progress. The $4 trillion bill, which barely passed the House, is now under Senate review.
Kevin O’Leary also criticizes Trump’s tariff plan after slamming “Big Beautiful Bill”
Looks like Kevin O’Leary is continuing to distance himself from some of Donald Trump’s recent economic proposals. After openly criticizing Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” he also spoke out against his latest tariff plan and is not sugarcoating his views.

In a recent interview with The Hill, O’Leary pushed back on the idea that retailers should absorb the higher costs of imported goods caused by Trump’s proposed tariffs. He also added that businesses are unlikely to take on the extra financial burden without a fight.
Instead, he believes retailers will lobby the government for relief and look for ways to pass some of the costs on to customers. Interestingly, this marks a notable shift in O’Leary’s tone. Just two months ago, he strongly supported aggressive tariffs on China.
Now, he seems more cautious and warns that Trump’s tariff war could backfire on American businesses and shoppers alike. So, all in all, Kevin O’Leary will always keep things straight to the point when it comes to politics and important policies.
Shark Tank is currently available to stream on Hulu in the USA.
