Who Is Lox Pratt: Harry Potter Reboot Casts New Draco Malfoy

While the world’s busy cheering on Tom Felton as he makes his Broadway debut, back in his iconic role as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the next chapter of the wizarding world is brewing.

HBO’s Harry Potter TV series, which already got fans talking with its new Harry, Ron, and Hermione, has now found its new Draco. Say hello to Lox Pratt, a talented young actor ready to bring some fresh breath into that iconic “POTTAH” role. Here is what’s going on!

HBO’s Harry Potter reboot has finally found its new Draco Malfoy!

The Harry Potter HBO TV series is shaping up to be one magical reboot, and the latest casting news has fans buzzing. As reported in Variety, seven new actors have officially joined the ensemble.

Katherine Parkinson will take on the role of Molly Weasley, while Johnny Flynn will bring Lucius Malfoy to life. Most notably, young British actor Lox Pratt has been cast as the new Draco Malfoy.

Also joining the cast are Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, and Bertie Carvel as the stern Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge.

So, who exactly is Lox Pratt? He’s one to watch. Pratt recently made headlines with his upcoming role as Jack in the BBC’s upcoming Lord of the Flies TV adaptation.

Thus, it can be said that he has a history of playing a wild, rebellious teen and is no stranger to layered, intense characters, making him a perfect fit for Draco Malfoy. The BBC series is being adapted by BAFTA-winner Jack Thorne and directed by Marc Munden, with a release expected in 2025 or early 2026.

Fans are already excited to see Pratt bring his own spin to the iconic Slytherin. Now with all eyes on him, he’s set to make Draco his own for a whole new generation of Potterheads.

Now’s a great time to be a Draco Malfoy fan!

It’s been a magical time for Draco Malfoy fans, both old and new. While HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter reboot continues to stir up conversation, with fans split between curiosity and skepticism, Tom Felton is making a return to the role that made him famous.

More than a decade since fans last saw him, Felton is stepping back into Draco’s shoes, but this time onstage. He’ll make his Broadway debut in the hit production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, joining the cast at New York’s Lyric Theatre starting in November for a special 19-week run. First premiered in London in 2016 and was co-created by Skins writer Jack Thorne alongside J.K. Rowling.

On a separate note, HBO is hard at work conjuring the new vision of the Wizarding World for the small screen. The upcoming Harry Potter series is being billed as a “faithful adaptation” of J.K. Rowling’s original novels and is set to be an ambitious, multi-season deep dive into the beloved books.

Francesca Gardiner, serving as both writer and showrunner, with Succession director Mark Mylod set to direct several episodes. The series is also backed by a powerhouse team of executive producers, including Rowling herself, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and Harry Potter film producer David Heyman.

Still, not everyone’s completely on board. With so many fans attached to the original cast and a bit nervous about a reboot, there’s definitely some (A LOT) hesitation in the air. But HBO isn’t backing away. They’re going all in, hoping this new take will win over loyal Potterheads; only time will tell.

HBO’s Harry Potter reboot is set to release on Max in 2026, no particular date has been announced yet.
