Black Ops 7 Is Day One Xbox Game Pass Release: Everything We Know

David Mason is officially back as Microsoft has announced the next title in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The teaser of the game was revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase event, giving players an insight into what they can expect from the next chapter. For the first time in the Black Ops series’ history, players will witness a consecutive release, which is not surprising, given how popular the Black Ops series is.

The trailer isn’t exactly what you’d expect out of a Call of Duty game, however, the build-up was exceptional. Activision has confirmed the platforms that the game will release on, plus, just like its predecessor, it is confirmed that the game will release on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

The next chapter of the Black Ops series has been revealed

During the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase, fans got a cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The short trailer featured mind-bending visuals as David Mason is escorted by a robot made by a company named Guild. Mason then meets Emma Kagan, CEO of the Guild, and as he tries to touch a butterfly on a screen, he is greeted by a world that is on the brink of chaos.

After the Inception-style chaotic segment plays out, a man crushes the butterfly and is revealed to be Raul Menendez, the villain of Black Ops 2. The official Call of Duty website has confirmed that the game takes place in 2035, as Mason and his team must fight back against a manipulative enemy with “near-future weaponry” who weaponizes fear above all else.

The return of David Mason, who last appeared in 2018’s Black Ops 4, has created a lot of anticipation among the fans. Activision seemed to have cracked the code, as the Black Ops series is quite popular among gamers all over the world, so reviving a series like this will certainly convince gamers to try out the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be released on Xbox Game Pass on day one

Like Black Ops 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will also be released on the Xbox Game Pass on day one, but this time, Black Ops 7 will have a new feature called Xbox Play Anywhere. After the release of Xbox’s latest ROG Xbox Ally handheld devices, players can play the game anywhere, on any device. Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to sit this one out as Activision has no plans of releasing the game on the hardware any time soon.

Once again, Activision’s Treyarch and Raven studios are teaming up to give players an exceptional FPS experience. In terms of the gameplay modes, the official site has confirmed that the game will feature solo play and multiplayer squads in a new co-op campaign.

As always, the game will feature a classic Multiplayer mode with new maps and weapons. Finally, the game will also consist of Round-Based Zombies in the heart of the Dark Aether.

Towards the end of the trailer, we also see four soldiers deploying onto a new map, this could be a hint that a new setting is coming to Call of Duty: Warzone as well.

The game is confirmed to be releasing on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and on PC via Xbox PC, Battle.net, and Steam. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date, but it is expected to be revealed later this summer.
