Born With Luck is a suspense crime drama directed by Liu Haibo, starring Wang Xiao and Tian Xiwei.
The series is adapted from the novel of the same name by Zi Jin Chen. It tells the story of police officer Zhang Yi’ang, who travels to Sanjiangkou to investigate a case after an anonymous tip-off letter is received. During the investigation, he unexpectedly cracks a serial murder case and identifies the criminal syndicate of wealthy businessman Zhou Rong. Amid a series of absurd encounters with a group of bumbling thieves in the area, Zhang Yi’ang gradually uncovers the truth behind the murder of the local criminal police captain and ultimately brings the real culprit to justice.

Synopsis
After being away from frontline criminal investigations for several years, police officer Zhang Yi’ang is sent to Sanjiangkou to investigate a case following an anonymous report received by the provincial department. Shortly after arriving, the captain of the criminal police team is murdered.
While trying to clear himself of suspicion, Zhang Yi’ang unexpectedly captures the culprit behind a series of murders, quickly earning a reputation. He then directs the investigation toward the criminal group led by the local wealthy businessman Zhou Rong.
However, a steady stream of inept thieves keeps appearing, and the intrigue and rivalry among these foolish criminals create a butterfly effect that unexpectedly helps Zhang Yi’ang and the police score repeated breakthroughs. By a twist of fate, Zhang Yi’ang eventually gathers all the bumbling thieves together.
Relying on intelligence and courage, he emerges victorious, uncovers the reason behind his colleague’s death, and finally brings the true murderer to justice.
