The Hawks have arrested three officials from the Department of Health on Monday, 02 March 2026, in connection with alleged fraud and corruption.
Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale said warrants of arrest were executed on charges of fraud, theft and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.
“The three suspects, aged 67, 46 and 55, are set to appear in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court following an in-depth investigation that began in April 2024. It is alleged that in 2023, more than R1 million was irregularly awarded to a service provider in violation of procurement regulations,” said Mogale.
The company linked to one of the suspects has also been charged as a fifth juristic person, as the funds were allegedly paid into its account.
Authorities have not yet released further details, stating that the matter remains under investigation.
