Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng has been rated as a more dangerous winger than Al Ahly’s former winger Percy Tau.
As reported in previous months, 27-year-old Saleng was a big subject of interest for the record 12-time CAF Champions League winners.
The report has been confirmed by the former Al Ahly scout Hany Ramzy via Egyptian media. According to Ramzy, the club’s former coach Marcel Koller was keen.

“There are names I think Al Ahly should sign,” Ramzy told Kora Talks Podcast, as quoted by IOL. “A player in South Africa, similar to Percy Tau in his style of play, but faster and with great skills. His name is Saleng, he plays for Orlando Pirates.
“This nomination was made a season and a half ago. We thought he was an excellent player, and Marcel Koller followed him and expressed his admiration, but no decision was made regarding him either.
“The deal was not completed,” Ramzy concluded.
